I suggested the idea for this thread in this thread after long stretches of arguing whether or not such a band is metal, or why certain songs were not included. So, have at it.

My preferred subgenres are Progressive metal, Death metal, and Folk metal.

I picked Gothic, Industrial, and Thrash.

I'm interested to hear folk metal though - haven't heard the bands mentioned in that category.

I also like symphonic metal, even though it doesn't really sound like metal to me. :biggrin1:

I probably like a bit of most things, I really love music. Rock and metal being my favourite genres. I like such a wide variety of music, though. I personally did several votes and voted: Glam, Gothic, Industrial, Metal-Core, Nu-Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Metal, Thrash Metal AND Traditional Heavy Metal. Which, OK, was msot of them - but I was going on the bands listed and ones I knew. If I had to pick just one out of those, I dunno... Nu-Metal maybe. I've liked things like Linkin Park, KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot for years now.

Most of what I've been exposed to has been Nu-Metal (P.O.D., KoRn, Linkin Park?, Limp Bizkit... a few Disturbed songs and a Slipknot song or two...). It's a genre I've tentatively avoided.

Led Zeppelin and Yes and AC/DC and Gentle Giant.

Korpiklaani and Tarot and Napalm Death and Maj Karma and my very favorite, Vejlekset Perse. Also Finntroll and Iron Maiden and Airbourne and the Cardiacs and Rush and Baroness and Viking Skull and Ensiferum. And Bruce Dickinson and Hot Leg.

Dragonforce gives me seizures though so not them.

    MOTORHEAD!!!

I chose Nu-metal. I like Slipknot but generally dislike Korn et al apart from a few songs.

I do love abit of dragonforce though...

I like Industrial Metal. Skinny Puppy is Industrial Metal?? I consider them to be more electro-industrial. I love Skinny Puppy btw. Anyway I consider Industrial Metal to be more like Ministry, KMFDM, Revolting Cocks and maybe in certain extent Rammstein.

Good taste you have, wise Jedi you are! Seriously though, good taste in bands. You're all over place (genre wise). I like most of the same bands. HORNS!! \m/
