In case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen.

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987. Here's this year's list:

They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine

They have always had cable

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?" "I'd walk a mile for a Camel" or
"de plane, Boss, de plane."

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

Feel old yet?

Enjoy! It is good to have friends who know about these things and are still alive and kicking!

I was born in '88, and these ones are false for me!

I'm actually 19 on Wednesday, yay.

I can't fathom any of that stuff either. Not because I didn't experience it, but because I can't remember it!
Men your age should take gingko biloba it helps with the memory.

Thanks NJQT. Let me get over to Denny's by 4 for the early bird. OH! Can't forget my Metamucil.

Don't forget the Centrum Silver and Grecian Formula. You don't want people saying how much your grandson looks like you on the playground . . .

No, not yet, I'm only 58. Mom who will be 86 in October says that she thinks of herself as about 38 years of age, she had 4 children at home when she was that age. Should I ask her if she felt 86 back then?

When I get my new cane, I'm going to go around & start hitting people with it.:rolleyes:

Lamont: "You're a dirty old man, ya hear that?!"

Fred:"And I'm gonna be one until I'm a dead old man"

Fred:"I still wanna sow some wild oats."

Lamont:"At your age you don't have no wild oats, you got shredded wheat!"

I remember when phones were actually attached to the wall.....
I remember when gas was 29 cents a gallon
I know the difference between 33,45,and 78 rpm
I remember when the Milkman delivered milk to the milkbox on your front steps
Just a few off the top of my head.....

I can remember when cigarettes were $0.50 a pack
When a phone & answering machines were two separate devices
When the only kind of music That had tracks on it were 8-track
When the legal age of drinking was 18
When a cell phone was the phone in the cell block used to make personal calls.

Uhm, tuseday morning brainfart mode coming up- I'll try to remember more later.

....I know the difference between 33,45,and 78 rpm....

I made a comment the other day about how I felt like I was on 78 and the rest of the world was on 33. It drew a bunch of blank stares. I died a little inside.

My older nephew turned 15 last month. He's now the age my brother/his father was when my brother/his father met and began dating his wife, my nephew's mother. Said nephew has a girlfriend. My head is about to explode.

I'm young enough to fit the description, but I've experienced all of these things. Does that mean that my mind is prematurely aging?

OK, this will be sad...

I remember American Telephone and Telegraph before the break up.

I remember Carol Burnett and her signature ear tug each week.

I remember rotary phones and the first answering machines that lokoed like reel to reels.

I remember my dad's 76 Chevy Impala Brougham with the top of the line 8 track.

I remember polyester knit plaid (but I sure as hell don't miss it).

I remember when black was beautiful.

I remember great people like Anwar Sadat and Indira Ghandi.

I remember my youth.

DAMN! When the hell did OLD sneak up on me?
