People in the affected areas of New York and New Jersey are asking for but STILL waiting for FEMA trailers six weeks after Hurricane Sandy devastated portions of that area, promises of "no red tape" to the contrary.

New York's mayor Bloomberg has decided that they don't need them (pardon moi), and the rest of the trailers are very slowly making their way to designated areas like trailer parks etc. instead of near affected homes because of some wacky law (straight out of some Three Stooges script) that forbids the installation of trailers right where they're needed most - in neighborhoods impacted by flood waters. ???

“The men said, ‘Catcha 22.’ All they kept saying was, ‘Catcha 22, Catcha 22.’ What does it mean?”
“Didn't they show it to you?”
“They don't have to show it to us.”
“Who says so?”
“The law says so."
"WHAT law?”
"Catcha 22!”

Moronic....

The work of having to tear out one's home down to the studs and rebuild is ordeal enough. Trailers on the premises of one's property allow people to BE there during the rebuilding and renovation process, rather than having to drive 60 miles plus every morning from where they're probably renting.

One has a base to work from: to meet with contractors and sign paperwork, a place to store materials and clean up supplies, a place to get in out of the sweltering heat (or in this case, the freezing cold) and take a break from their toil.

A place to grab a bite to eat, prepare a meal, sleep and rest in relative comfort, use the facilities, bath, and equally important, to be able to watch over one's property so that building materials, fixtures, drywall, copper pipes, and electrical wiring don't TAKE A WALK while one's back is turned.

Hopefully some COMMON SENSE will prevail somewhere in the process and people affected by this storm can get this much needed accommodation.
