“妇女撑起半边天”

- Mao Zedong

But doesn't the first character (妇), which means "woman," essentially depict a woman holding boar's hair broom (radical for woman combined with radical for broom = character which is an alternative symbol for the word "woman")?

Mao loved women -- "in the bedroom". But who, besides farmers and peasants in China, still like Mao?

I ask the same question, but you would be surprised. I think that Mao is still respected, despite what we in the West see as unacceptable tyranny, because he reunited China after a period of decline and decadence. For this reason he is respected as a great leader of China despite the collateral damage.

I have heard the spoken consensus on Mao is '50% good, 50% bad,' but I'm guessing that 90% of the people hate him outright.

I think one of the points where we (US) differ from the Chinese is that they are very defensive of their government, under any circumstances, when speaking with a foreigner; whereas when discussing their government among themselves, they are very critical. It's like, "I can say anything I want about my sister, but if you do I'll punch you in the nose."

I think you'll find that if aliens like me make the slightest criticism about the US, then the patriot militia come out in force all guns blazing to lynch the anti american heretic.

The West has been criticising China for decades and the US propaganda machine was in full flow until they recently realised that the relationship had become more equal in terms of power.

I have to warn you though, my sexiness is too much for some people to handle. And by "sexiness" I mean the huge mole I have on my ass that bears an uncanny resemblance to Bill Clinton.

<<<<chinagirl4u2: "Occupation--sanpei xiaojie" Women who perform sexual acts with men in karaoke/dance venues, bars, restaurants, teahouses and other venues and who receive financial recompense in the form of tips from the individual men they accompany, as well as from a share of the profits generated by informal service charges on the use of facilities and the consumption of food and beverages. These women often begin by allowing their clients to fondle or intimately caress their bodies, then if the client is eager, will engage in sexual intercourse.
