Honestly, your doctor would have no more clue about condom size than a pharmacist. About the only thing that a physician learns about condoms, unless a urologist or other specialist doing research about them, is that they exist and how to use them properly. The best source of information is the internet condom sites like Condomania. Medical and pharmacy school lectures on the subject are limited.

The female pharmacist would most likely take this kind of question as a crude joke and either kick you out of the store or refuse to help you.

Best thing is to try different brands and see which feels best. Or try a such as website such as http://secure.condomania.com/TheyFit/.

I'm quite broad and, for me, the thing is the girth, in particular at the head. Yes, I know, you can fill a condom up with water so that it's the size of a shopping bag, but even so they can still feel tight and restricting. A condom with a bell-end shape is much more comfortable than a straight one. Durex Natural Feeling and the Trojan Ultra Pleasure ones seem to work for me, for example. But you've really got to try and see.
