I hope the fact that the entire thing from start to finish is on video and there are witnesses LIVE witnesses who saw the entire thing from start to finish and it is not all just the word of some lying sack of shit will make a difference this time.

Certainly no argument this time that the shooter "was just trying to protect himself" and how he was "getting his head bashed into the concrete"

He was aggressively pushed to the ground. But in the larger context that was after he started verbally assaulting the man's wife w/ his small children present.

Sheriff was basically starting his consideration of the incident from the time of the push, but prosecutor is considering all the verbal assault this man was doing to the guy's family.

P.S. Since it came up in a different incident... regardless of what transgressions follow, don't park in handicap spaces if you're not authorized to do so, people!

Who knows? Though we've had videos of cops assaulting and killing people before under questionable circumstances, and they've gotten off.

As I noted several times above, cops apparently "fear for their lives" when black people run away. Driving away, perhaps worse. Only on one rare instance a Texas jury didn't BUY IT:

Texas jury finds ex-police officer guilty of murdering black teen
Ex-Texas cop guilty of murder for killing unarmed black teen | Fox News

The sentencing phase has yet to occur. And rare though guilty verdicts may BE, rarer still are instances where errant cops do lengthy time for their convictions. For example, the Danzinger Bridge incident, where after having been found guilty of "deprivation of rights" "criminal use of weapos" (i.e. b.s.) and the attempted coverup, the 5 "cops" involved, through finagling and rulings of the ultra conservative 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, wound up getting their sentences DRASTICALLY cut.

So what follows in this case remains to be seen.

Hardly the FIRST time a black man gets shot dead by answering a knock at his OWN fkn door:

Dallas police seek manslaughter warrant against officer who killed neighbor

This case is particularly nuts.

It's not even like they had the wrong address. A police officer late at night tried to enter someone else's house. The homeowner opened the door, they got into an argument, and she shot the homeowner dead.

The guy is like as straight laced as humanly possible (like he runs a church choir, teaches bible study, etc).

This cop hasn't even been arrested yet. They did turn the case over to the Texas Rangers, but if you want to talk about different levels of treatment for cops -vs- the general public, here you go.

One can only hope that to be the outcome of it all.

Protest by its very nature involves some degree of confrontation, especially when there are forces in place that deliberately provoke confrontation. Therefore, "peaceful", becomes somewhat relative.

No doubt there are those who'd say the Rosa Parks bus boycott, the student sit-ins of the 60's, the Freedom Riders, and the Selma protests were far from "peaceful" too.

You have to remember, to many Americans the whole idea of protesting is ancient. They got what they want, they have their freedom and are not quick to admit that others are not so fortunate, if they even realize it in the first place. Strangely, our culture idolizes the protesters of yester-year and demonizes the ones of today.

It seems that the cop in question has ONLY been one for 4 years, barely past being a "rookie" and in that short 4 years she has ALREADY shot and killed someone else.

It seems like the default is always "shoot first and ask questions NEVER"

I am sure she will be on "paid administrative leave" AKA VACATION for about a year if not more all the while being free to work other "security" type jobs, concerts, clubs etc etc and then just before getting fired she will "be allowed to resign" when she already has another job in LE all lined up because she will STILL have "a clean record"

She must be Little Buzzsaw's "sister"

Settle down, Beavis.

She did not shoot and kill anyone else. She did shoot a suspect, after she got into a struggle with him and he took her taser. He survived that and confessed to taking her weapon (in addition to the drug possession and parole violation).

Foaming at the mouth and spitting out fake news distracts from the actual issue here because people have to spend time correcting you instead of focusing on the real crime which just occurred.

Really? I wasn't aware of that. The only other incident that's been revealed as of late was this one, in which she shot (but didn't kill) the "suspect." Dallas officer who killed man in home she thought was hers also shot suspect in 2017

Yes it was mistake I rather quickly read a clip and saw where it said she had after only being a cop for 4 years had shot someone I as it turns out in error inferred shot equalled killed because of the context of the current situation.

Still any way you want to spin it she has now on only 4 years had 2 UOF incidents when some beat cops manage to go an entire 20 plus year career and never have even one.

The comparison to our favorite Barney Fife being also from Houston and in only a few short years having multiple UOF incidents already

Dallas Officer Charged in Killing of Neighbor Could Face Other Charges, Prosecutor Says

Prosecutors in Dallas will present their findings to a grand jury in the case of a police officer who fatally shot her neighbor in his apartment, raising the possibility that she could face additional charges, including murder.

A day after the officer, Amber R. Guyger, 30, was charged with manslaughter, the Dallas County district attorney, Faith Johnson, insisted that the investigation into the death of Botham Shem Jean, 26, had not ended and that her office could seek charges “including anything from murder to manslaughter.”

“What I’m telling you is that the case is now in the hands of the Dallas County district attorney,” Ms. Johnson said at a news conference on Monday. “We’ll present a thorough case to the grand jury so that a right decision can be made.”

It's been a continual clusterfuck. Dallas PD pursued a manslaughter charge, but then handed the case over to Texas Rangers for supposed 'better transparency', and then Texas Rangers spent 3 days investigating I guess with no communication to the public or the family up to the point that they filed manslaughter charges yesterday so there's been even less transparency than when Dallas PD was working the case.

Anyways, that article is correct. She was charged with manslaughter, but the prosecutor is handing it over to a grand jury and it's possible they could upgrade it to second degree murder (but I really doubt that would happen.

Voluntary manslaughter (AKA crime of passion) still sounds like the most appropriate charge. Second degree murder would require some really damning eye witness testimony.

The former lovers story grew legs and is running faster than i could ever hope to correct, I'm surprisingly just now only realizing the impact social media could have on jury pools, it seems like that's something the courts haven't really caught up to, how to do you find "ignorant" impartial juries when stories spread a mile a minute?

And just like it happened in almost all of the other incidents discussed in this thread, the narrative gets "worked" and revised in favor of the killer cop, while the victim is spun in a way that makes him or her our to be suspect, if not WORSE.

The latest version in this event being the killer cop's (Amber Guyger's) claim that the door was ajar, the interior dark (to nullify racial intent) and that Botham Jean "ignored her verbal commands."

Never mind the fact that the guy she shot dead in his own fkn apartment reportedly had distinctive identifying features at his front door.
