Filing system for porn?

I have a shamefully large porn collection which is difficult to organize. I have a filing system of sorts, but I make it up as I go along and it's more than a little inconsistent. I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and if you've got any good suggestions. Thanks.

i just make main folders, then subfolders, etc. works perfectly well, and i probably have close to 350 gigs of files on my external.

Go to porn sites and see how they sort their movies. By anal, bukkake, gangbangs, big cock, little cock, etc....

I tend to file by studio or series title, all within one folder.

Real Men
Alphamale
TheGuySite
Hot House
Treasure Island Media

etc.

I also use folder like vintage, bareback, or by studio like falcon, cadinot, HDK, I only have 45 gig on my system drive and another 60 gig on an external. But I have lots of dvds with 4 or 5 titles on each. I think I'm gonna burn it all to dvd eventually or get a tera byte drive.

i used to categorize it on dvds.
Oral
Anal
Jocks
cumshots

etc.
Videos I just categorize by twinks, jocks, or studio like Lex.

I burn all my stuff to disks...because its better to do that then have it take up hard drive storage.
I've got 2 internal 500gb drives I run, but one drive is for the operating system and program files, the other is a temporary/dump drive for DVD authoring, etc.

I have two other backups of my system offline in storage for just in case.
HD Storage is cheap but in todays day and age -somewhat unreliable.

I've had all too many customers think that their PC would infinitely store their data.
I'm here to tell ya... DVD is your safest bet.

my system is basically this

Parent Folder
-white girls
-black girls
-Asian girls
-other girls
-Classic/Vintage scenes
-Fetish



then in each i have subfolders

-Big Tits
-Titfucking
-Blowjob
-handjob
-cumshot only
-POV

etc...and if i have the need, i subdivide it further, like for favorite performers like all the Gianna Michaels clips are stored under "White girl," - "Big Tits" in the "Gianna" subfolder - etc.

This is another reason I like Unix-like operating systems...symbolic links. :biggrin1:

My porn collection takes up more than 2TB of the 4.5TB array on my storage server.

I have scenes categorized by site, by performer, etc...so naturally some scenes would go in more than one category. In the Linux world, you just create a link to the file in each category where it belongs...it appears that you've put a new copy in each place, but in reality they're all just pointers to the one real copy of the file.

So a favorite scene with, say, Gianna Michaels might be in all these different directories (folders) on the filesystem:

/Brunettes
/Big Tits
/Naturals
/Creampies
/Brazzers

...but in raw storage terms, there's only one copy of the data actually taking up drive space.
