Acually... Being so young and still in college... I am an AVID ff player

FF7 = Genius.... But FF8 is my absolute favorite... Its just something about the way it ends... it keeps you guessing about EVERYTHING! and you never actually figure out who ultimeca is... since she is a kickass future sorceress....

FF10 was pretty good... FF10-2... Idk what happened... But FF is definatally the best franchise along w/ Chrono Cross. Anyone ever played it?

I never actually completed VIII because the last boss battle was so hard and got really frustrating when she would randomly switch your characters around and it became a matter of you having to make sure that all your characters are basically at level 99 and all major weapons and armors equipped from the beginning.

I will say though that the card mini game in it was one of the most addicting mini games I have played in a FF game to date, along with also the Golden Saucer mini games in FF VII.

I'll be starting FFX after my A-Levels equivalency at the end of this year - exams suck big time, man!

Then it'll be gaming from 8-to-5 for me. And I mean from 8 a.m. to 5 a.m., that is :biggrin1:

That's how I finished FFVII in a week. Same with KHII

You'll have to sniff around the site a bit - click on the game title, then on Soundtracks.

Good luck with the exams dude. :p

An interesting quote I found and altered to fit into the mood of this thread

What I believe is the ultimate draw to Final Fantasy is that they allowed those of us who cared enough to think about our own world, to be drawn so fully into it. The FF games really never took place in a world trapped behind a TV screen, but rather inside each of us as we played them. For me, it inspired me to look deeper into this world and into myself to discover the beauty in it. The characters we love and played with as kids (and as adults) struggle with the same kind of questions we players spend our lives struggling with. Questions of meaning, of relevance, of power, and of control.

What is my purpose in life? Why are the innocent punished? Why is life so unfair? All these questions can be found in the games. And what makes the games all the more dear to me is that much like us, the characters in the games sometimes do not find any answers to those questions, just as we can't always have these questions answered in our own lives.

Sure, we might all have different answers to those questions, but I think that the FF games are more than just entertainment in that sense.

A beautiful quote, and thought-provoking, too.

I guess to those who loved their RPG's as an escape from this world (myself included), this quote will be insightful to a point

See, I liked Xenogears....but I thought there was just simply so much story that it outweighed the action....didn't strike a good balance and it led me to value it less than a lot of other RPGs.

Yeah, and how you were forced to read every piece of dialouge, and couldn't skip it. No wonder the game always takes 60+ hours to beat.

Good quote - I agree. I was astonished when I first played ff7 - played thru it w/my bro which was cool, and we both loved it.
I think it's because it's dealing with realistic characters, and issues that face us all - love, life and death, betrayal, loyalty, courage, friendship, etc that makes it so fascinating. Like a really good book, but more interactive, lol.

PS: Incidentally what dragged me into FF in the first place was the absolutely brilliant trailer-movie thing on a demo disc - blew me away. Plus it had great reviews in the official ps mag, so...

I must be the only person who found FF7 over rated, i mean, don't get me wrong, i loved the game, but i liked other FF's better than it.

And mite i add, Kingdom Hearts series = kickass ^^

MG - I guess it depends which one you played first - plus I guess they're all slightly different, so they're gonna appeal to people in different ways.
(That sounded like a lecture actually, sorry lol).

Hell Yeahz!! I like how so many people responded to this thread. Final Fantasy VII is of course the best one story wise, but my favorite was VIII and X was such a an amazing game!

Exactly my sentiments on the issue at hand

I first played FF by accident, really  I got an FFIX game for my friend's birthday, only to find out that he had already gotten it a year or two back.

So I played Final Fantasy IX, and the rest is history

Heheh - cool accident tho, lol.

It must have been fate

Now, I have difficulty remembering what life was when my gaming was restricted to non-FF games.

Maybe I'm just obsessed, but even my outlooks on life and people have been slightly influenced by the philosophy in the games.

If there is one other game in the FF series to date I would love to see expanded on more in terms of merchandise, spin off movies and so on is funnily enough Final Fantasy 12 more than anything. It is the only other FF game to really grab my interest and keep it solidly with it like I did with VII and the characters and the world it created was very much like VII in that I was given a unique and varied experience.

I thought 12 was good, too. Music seemed a bit uninspired at first - but liked it in the end, heh.

You could get yourself a DS and play Revenant Wings. I've never played it but I've heard it is good.

I'm looking forward to the FF13 series of games. It's going to be in the same universe kind of like the Ivalice Alliance. It's called Fabula Nova Crystallis.

I hope that the battle system is good.

Rumors on the internet say that Squeenix is trying to implement some new twist on the ATB system
