When I read some of the statistics for youth crime, drop-out rates, etc.. I wonder where the parents are. Obviously some kids are out of control, but here's a story about a father who was jailed because his daughter didn't earn her diploma equivalent. In this case, the girl wasn't living with her father so his imprisonment may not have been warranted. He was, however, ordered months prior to make sure she completes it. In general, it seems that some states are starting to hold parents accountable for their children's delinquency.
Dad jailed after daughter fails to get diploma - Crime & courts - MSNBC.com
I find the decision in this case abhorrent. The father was sentenced to 180 days in jail for his 18 year daughter's actions. Unbelievable. And all of these people or stars who do drugs, get in automobile accidents, drive drunk and everything else spend 2 days in jail???
Not to mention that mother who the daughter lives with wasn't punished nor the daughter herself. I'm all for parental responsibility but I'm also for reasonableness with the courts. Why not sentence the father and daughter to community service, if you have to go to these lengths?
This case is shameful and I hope he appeals. There is nothing to applaud here. If this is the best response we have to these issues, then we have failed in a variety of ways.

My point is this: if you want to change perceptions or help mold opinion, it helps to lead by example.
You do your cause and argument no favors when decrying the lack of educational standards while flouting them yourself.
No matter how intelligent you may appear, you undercut yourself buy ignoring the rules of writing proper English...and toning down the hyperbolic emotionalism helps, too. A appeal to reason propagated within emotional diatribes and lazy typing habits seems, well, hollow.
and i'm sure you can read my posts just fine, you seem to have done so thus far without complication. if periods and capitals are so important i suggest putting me on ignore because i'm a lazy typer, atleast when it comes to a support group for big penises.
i don't undercut myself, those who judge my writing style on a porn site do if they judge me by trivial things that don't matter here. many members enjoy my posts and do so without strict adherence to rules of writing. as off-topic as this is, i can't help but laugh at it. when i'm at weddings, i wear tuxedos, when i'm at home i wear jeans and a t-shirt. i log onto this site with a level of comfort and my writing is casual. if i knew a somebody were going to grade this i'd worry about capitals and whatnot.
You seem to respect LPSG and its membership enough to feel comfortable expressing opinions and seeking respect for your point of view: why else continue what has been elsewhere described as "hyperposting"?
Why now decry the lack of importance and relevance of a place to which you devote so much time, energy and enthusiasm?
Look: I don't consider you a troll, just someone who types faster than he thinks. That can be fine when bullshitting with friends. But when discussing adult subjects with a group of adults (as an adult), what is the issue with appearing as adult as possible?
so i'm not allowed to discuss adult topics?? doesn't being 22 make an adult?? or since i'm young is there an age limit for the articles i can discuss??
My point was, and is, that when requesting the intelligent response of adults it behooves you to communicate in an intelligent and adult manner.
Is hitting the shift key really such a point of pride with you that you're willing to undercut your point? Or am I the only one (aside from Jason) who sees the irony in your highly charged call for better education while ignoring elementary grammatical rules?
Of course you are. Adults have standards when communicating with one another. You just have to keep up with the rest of them.so i'm not allowed to discuss adult topics??
Legally yes, however your chronological age has nothing to do with acting as an adult.doesn't being 22 make an adult??
Not at all. There are people here younger than you who can hold their own with the adults on this forum. Take notice, follow their lead, and you'll do just fine.or since i'm young is there an age limit for the articles i can discuss??
i'm 22. i'm not in school. once again, posting on a penis support group site has NOTHING to do with the education system. i'm discussing the topic. if i were to converse with my friends about this in my living room, do i have to use perfect english? i know pronunciation, i know punctuation, if this were the SAT's i'd be happy to oblige, but it isn't. again, there are many members who pay more attention to my content than capitals and periods. the best i can tell you is, if it bothers you that much, skip over my posts. the fact that i post casually doesn't mean i'm not allowed to speak about certain topics, including education. few people use spot-on engish, many people mispell words on this site. i don't think anyone's offended by it. what confuses me is why i'm not allowed to speak about education because i don't display here (again, on a penis site). if you were the governor of my state and i was writing a formal letter about the topic, i'd worry about periods and capitals. again, i'm in my bed, i'm wearing boxers, i'm comfortable. doesn't mean i can't talk about the education system.
Sorry Marley but Bbucko and Jason_els are right on the money. If you want to be taken seriously by the members of this site, pay more attention to your presentation.

You shouldn't change your writing style to make people happy. You should reconsider how you present yourself when trying to introduce a specific topic. I didn't even read all the way through this thread until now. You posted this earlier:there are plenty of people who take me seriously because they're looking at my words, not which ones should be capital and where periods are supposed to be. i simply don't understand this argument. some members want me to post less, so should i post less? how far does this 'pleasing other members go'? some people don't like dark-skinned guys so should i take my pics down. i really don't understand changing my casual writing to make somebody happy. one thing i've learned is every change you make to turn one person on, turns another person off.
and you think punishing this behavior is wrong?? it's gone on so long because it hasn't been punished. my generation is full of morons who can't spell their name because nobody wants to enforce the education our ancestors faught for. there's a reason diseases aren't being cured, even though centuries ago, with LESS technology and information, they were being cured. we're a nation of idiots that revels in the right to be idiots under the guise of "being free" and "being kids". at what age should we start expecting responsibility, 40? 50? 105?
i write the way i write, many members of this site PM me with agreements and compliments. i should note that there are many threads about fondling guys in their sleep, taking advantage of drunk people, incestuous behavior and videos of rape. they often use correct punctuation and capitals so maybe you should check those threads out since all that matters is grammatics. i actually had a thread of people telling me not to change a damn thing so i'm doing something right.
