Depends on the material - metal ones you need to put on soft otherwise you can't get everything through. Most other materials you can put on of already hard, it just makes it more difficult.

Yeah, there are a lot of cheap cockrings...they're thermal-welded strips of the material and tend to split as you described. The good ones are molded as rings so there's no joint to split.

I'm not super big, but i have broken quite a few rings. Some of the cheaer rings dont feel right or give enough compression to work how i want them to. Mostly i use black orings fromthe hardware storr in different diameters.

Hi guys if you looking to try a cock ring then the cheapest place to buy them is your local plumbing merchent or DIY store. A lot of cock rings you see in shops or the net are just plain rubber 'O' ring seals which you will find a range of sizes for pence rather than pounds. Probably made by the same manufaturer too.
