Large phallus obsessions go way way back before even that. We find them all the time in Archaeological digs. Believe it or not, men placed a much higher presidence on it than women did. The Dildo has been around since masturbation started im sure.

Funny how different the various translations are.
Some are quite ambiguous, referring not to 'genitals' but to 'flesh.
Two refer to 'semen' or 'seed,' but the others refer to 'issue,' another very ambiguous term.
    Still, it's an astonishing verse.
At least she's not coveting her neighbor's ox.
    Unless she is.

    New International Version (©1984)
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.
    New Living Translation (©2007)
She lusted after lovers with genitals as large as a donkey's and emissions like those of a horse.
    English Standard Version (©2001)
and lusted after her paramours there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose issue was like that of horses.
    New American Standard Bible (©1995)
"She lusted after their paramours, whose flesh is like the flesh of donkeys and whose issue is like the issue of horses.
    GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
She lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose semen was like that of horses.
    King James Bible
For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

    American King James Version
For she doted on their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

    American Standard Version
And she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

    Bible in Basic English
And she was full of desire for her lovers, whose flesh is like the flesh of asses and whose seed is like the seed of horses.

    Douay-Rheims Bible
And she was mad with lust after lying with them whose flesh is as the flesh of asses: and whose issue as the issue of horses.

    Darby Bible Translation
and she lusted after their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is as the issue of horses.

    English Revised Version
And she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

    Webster's Bible Translation
For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

    World English Bible
She doted on their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

    Young's Literal Translation
And she doteth on their paramours, Whose flesh is the flesh of asses, And the issue of horses -- their issue.

Boy, all those translations. And the " Bible/church" people here in Indiana say all they say about gay people. What a shame!!!!! With all of those, how are you suppose to get it right.

"All those Bible/ Church"people know gay people having a donkey one
because father showed his huge one by himself.

By the way it's common, it also happens in The Netherlands...

Yea, I was "STUNNED" when I read that translation. As was pointed out ALOT of the other translations DO NOT paint the whole picture. Thanks for the feedback. Peace.

Remember that men/women who wrote the original text of the Bible wrote in the grammar of the era in which they lived. The NIV is far from the most accurate translation. The NIV translators took some liberty by translating this verse.
The original word which they translated genitals is " basar" pronounced "baw-sawr" simply meant the body of a man.

Using the original text this my translation:

She loved her male servants whose body was like a donkey and his secretion like a horse.

Aholibah. Apparently she enjoyed engaging in whoredom...not sure if they called her Aho for short.

Was that an intentional Biblical allusion? (2 Samuel 12:7)

By the way, with reference to the OP and the title of the thread: I don't recall where Exekiel fits into the ancient chronology, but the era of the kings begins at most 3,000 years ago, not 4,000.
