Now I have questions about how much power Moderators have, for editing.
Do ALL of you have the ability to alter posts and subject lines, remove photos and links? Do you act independently or collectively? Do you consult with each other first and/or talk to an "Administrator" before hand?
Perhaps I've gone off topic, when actually, all I really want to do, is eat out Novice_Bottom's ass, but, it would be interesting to know how much access and ability the Moderators have here, as individuals, to completely change the point or subject of a person's post. I ask as, so obviously lately, many long-time and new members are questioning whether LPSG is a "democracy".
Hopefully, I won't be put on the LPSG "CO-INTEL-PRO" list for asking.
 Onan
Sorry, Onan, I missed this when I went to bed. Yes, we can edit posts. I had assumed that you would all be able to read that it had been edited by me at the bottom of the post. If you can't that means my not so clever pun is lost. I did post in the thread that I was making the edit for clarity.
We need to be able to edit posts because of instances such as when underage nude pics of a certain actor with the initials D.R. are posted, we need to be able to remove them as soon as possible. We can see where and when a post has been edited by another and I can assure you that we police each other to prevent undue tampering. If I were to change the post of another without cause you would very likely see the word "banned" under my name by the following day.
Remember this thread would have been merely removed as we don't tolerate hate speech. I was hoping to keep the fun that had started going by tweaking a few words so that it could remain. And now it's raised an issue so I'll consider it a good thing.
I'm hoping that this doesn't become a huge argument again so I'll answer this from my own perspective rather than a voice representing the site. So, my unofficial answer is that LPSG is not a democracy. It is a privately owned website that is required to follow the laws governing it's operation in the district it is hosted. Because the site has paying members as well as members who support the site through contributions of content (posts, galleries) I would look at it as a business. From this perspective that makes us customer service representatives for the site. As a customer (user) of this site if you have concerns bring them forward. The site is slow, tell us. Certain functions aren't working, tell us. Member X is trolling, spamming or posting nudes of minors, tell us. Site performance goes to Rob_E. Forum and chat issues mods can respond to directly. If I see someone flooding the chat room with the same line so that no one else can post, that can be responded to immediately. Ditto for posting nude images of minors. Other issues can require fact finding missions and discussion before action, if any, is taken.
The moderators, from my understanding, were selected as a representative sample of the membership. Not a perfect sample, of course, as that would mean having at least one with photoshopped pics claiming an 18" dick. But we are members first. We're you, just standing on the other side of the counter. (with an employee discount card:wink
Have a good night's sleep, Novice... I am not a conspiracy theorist, I don't have time for such things. My questions are completely legitimate, as an interested, caring party and as a paying member.
Whether or not this thread is deleted... because of Gillette's total reversal of it's OP's intent, it will have no meaning other than to those few of us that caught it early on... therefore no one has gained in our strive for understanding.
Now, I know, she can also completely alter my statements here with no one else knowing but her.
Isn't that of concern to you?
Onan
It's a fair concern and I hope I've addressed it to your satisfaction.
At least someone, sorta, agrees with me here... Because it's been completely edited by a Moderator, in a Oh-So-Funny-PC-Way, it's lost all meaning to the folks that wander into this and wonder what the issue is.
It's up to you, I guess, Gillette, are you now going to delete the entire thread so no one has any more questions about it?
Onan
Nope

PS: Rex? Is that what you meant by "Canadian"?
I'm hoping it's more in reference to defusing a problem in a lighthearted manner. Hell, even heavy handed can be funny, did you see our Prime Minister grab an abusive loud mouth by the throat? Shocking but still pure comedy.
