Police adopt softly-softly approach on public orgies
2nd October 12:55
Ian Dunt

American police adopted a distinctly relaxed approach to this year's Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, taking little notice of the hundreds of men baring their genitals on every street corner.

Orgies of men fellating and fondling each other in the street provoked laughs and photographs from curious onlookers but no police action, according to reports.

Two reporters for Americans for Truth about Homosexuality documented prevalently older men walking down the street completely naked, men masturbating in public with groups of visitors watching them, men and women beating each other with whips, women walking around with their breast exposed and a large smattering of gay and straight master-slave couples.

One police officer admitted to the pair that public indecency laws were "apparently" not being enforced, and stressed that anyone coming to the Folsom fair would be expecting to come face to face with that kind of activity.

The fair - which celebrates sadomasochism - has been running since 1984, and is now California's third largest spectator event. City officials and event organisers have had a good relationship throughout that time, with political observers praising the organisers' sense of community and volunteer support.

This year's event was marred by controversy over a promotional poster, however.

It featured a version of Da Vinci's Last Supper with Jesus and his disciples replaced by fetishists and sex toys on the table.

Following concerted lobbying by the conservative Concerned Women for America, Miller Brewing, one of the events sponsors, called for its logo to be removed from the poster.

"While Miller has supported the Folsom Street Fair for several years, we take exception to the poster the organising committee developed this year," the company said.

"We understand some individuals may find the imagery offensive and we have asked the organisers to remove our logo from the poster effective immediately."

Conservative protestors called on California's House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, to do something about the promotional material, but she refused to do so.

As part of her September 28th morning press conference, Ms Pelosi, a Catholic, said: "It's a cconstitutional question. It's a religious question. It's about as global a question as you could ask.

"I'm a big believer in the First Amendment. I do not believe Christianity has been harmed by the Folsom Street Fair."

The fair draws around 40,000 annual visitors.

My friends just happened to be visiting SF that week and went to the Fair. They had a blast! Jim (who is very conservative in his dress) was wearing a sweater vest. He was the hit! Many naked/leather clad folks took pictures of him. He told them that he was in his "Father Knows Best drag". LOL

Why is always the ones who really shouldn't be naked in public who insist on doing it, and never the ones you'd want to see naked?

Really, there were some very unpleasant sights there this Sunday.

The "problem" is, if you want to consider it a problem (and perhaps you do), that being in a clothes free environment whether it be the Folsom Street Fair, a certain section of Bourbon Street on Mardi Gras Day, a nudist resort, or a free beach, means exactly that: the freedom of everyone to participate if they so desire.

One can hardly be an advocate for these kinds of social liberties yet at the same time complain when the "not so beautiful people" (and other so-called undesirables) choose to participate.

Thank goodness!

That means we won't have to bail Simcha, Viking, Musclebutt2, or Earllogjam out of jail! :cop::pokey::cop:

Sick, sick, sick! Nudity is one thing but that is going too far. It doesn't surprise me that 1 in 4 gay men in S.F. is HIV+
Even nudist beaches and camps don't allow public sex. Shameful is the right word for that event. Shame on those men, and shame on those police officers for being such wimps.

After going to about six of these fairs there is little that is new year to year -same flogging stations, same naked old farts and leather drag queens, same food, same loud music. This year the weather was great so it was jamb packed and wall to wall people. Good people watching as there were a lot of half naked men around with quite a few hairy hot guys donned in leather chaps and little else - lots of bare butts. The porno houses, Titan Media, Raging Stallion, Hot House...etc had a huge presence this year. There were many muscled porn actors there signing autographs and fooling around behind the booths. I was struck how in real life some were not as good looking as on film. Jake Deckhard has a real goofy looking face with buck teeth, and many are very short guys. Maybe that is why their endowments looks so large on screen. They all seem like charicatures of themselves. I think the guys walking on the street were hotter. I went with some friends who let me borrow some leather fetishwear and I got a few whistles and gropes from some hot guys. All in all a very fun day...and night. I wasn't bad enough to get arrested though jason.

I had a good time there. My Mom and brother who are visiting me from Chicago had a great time there too.

My Mom is no prude so she wasn't shocked by anything there. She's no hippie sex freak either. My bro is just cool.

San Francisco is a very swinging area when it comes to sex. Even the police have realized that the public just doesn't think of the area's openness to sexual experiences as a detriment to society. In fact one of the reasons people live here is because of the openness in the culture here.

There were all kinds of guys and gals there of varying degrees of attractiveness.

As earllogjam has said, it was a beautiful day to be outside. And LOL! No my Mom, bro, earllogjam, Viking, Musclebutt2 and I don't need to be bailed out of jail. It wasn't that wild.

Actually, it was Mom's idea. I suggested against it but some of my friends were going and she wanted to meet them. She surprised me. And it wasn't gross at all, it was a lot of fun.

 I don't know what to say...

Does anyone else find it amusing when members of this group -- dedicated to big dicks, their owners and admirers -- get on their moral high horses about some celebratory aspect of human sexuality that isn't their particular "cup of tea"?

I am not saying that being a member of lpsg requires that we all agree to share the same likes and dislikes, but I think the condemnation in some of these posts is ridiculous...

...and quoting Concerned Women for America!? What do you think they would say about lpsg?

Simcha, did your mom wear any leather? It certainly was a lot of fun. Lots of good fun loving people there. The thing I like about it the best is that people are not ashamed of their bodies and have a healthy perspective on sex in that it is something to be enjoyed. People just don't have many hang ups there. It is a refreshing celebration.

The unknown and misunderstood, like the leather community is always taken by most people as something to fear or evil which is understandable but fear has a very limiting effect of the quality of one's life. Some people will forever be closed to new experiences and ideas letting fear make all their decisions. The fair always broadens my outlook on sex and life because once you go you realize that it is a celebration of sexual liberation and awakening. A celebration that it is ok to have sexual pleasures and a reaffirmation that people with a shared vision and passion can overcome any animosity and make something magical despite all those nay sayers who would pull them down.

All she wore was a leather bracelet of mine. It was black, thick, and had a brass star on it. It looked kind of cool on her.

And she was okay with men masturbating and having oral in public.

Standards of the community. If the community finds it acceptable then it's not obscene.

The community of SF doesn't really find that acceptable. The cops and authorities wimped out as usual, and the SF board of health has all but given up on that city being so out of control with STD's. If they decided to do away with that fair, clean it up, or arrest those perverts for public sex, the gay community would cry discrimination. It's really sad it's come to this.

Simcha, I love that you took your mom and that it was her idea! It's always nice to hear the happy-family stories.
