I can understand why people cling to the idea that you somehow you lose sensitivity because if that one claim is dimissed the whole case aginast circumcision would end in a mistrial.

This was an interesting post until it ran a bit amok. I was left uncirc'ed because it was not routinely done in my ethnic group (Mexican) here in the South, Texas specifically. I was born in a hospital but the males in my family are not circumcised and from what I recall being told, the question was never asked at the hosptial so there it is. This was over 30 years ago. However that trend has changed over the last two decades it seems. Working in the medical practice field, I've noted that pediatricians will often perform the circumcisions, surprisingly pediatricians are also on the lower end of the scale when it comes to compensation. Most common reason for their lower pay scale is that their patient base can be heavily Medicaid. They have to do a lot of volume. Medicaid doesn't pay well but it does pay something. As another poster noted some insurance carriers don't pay for it anymore and it's an out-of-pocket expense but Medicaid is one of the few that will pay for this procedure and pays somewhat decently. I think you can connect the dots from there.

Circumcision is too ingrained in this U.S. society to ever go away. I always found it strange that this is one of those few things in our society that is in constant need of justification. From what I've gathered through out the years of talking to people or they talking to me and having assisted doing this in a newborn nursery in the U.S. Navy of all places, most people want to do this for the sake of looks. They just look for other means to justify it. It's like can you imagine a Doberman Pincher without its ears surgically cropped and tail not whacked off? It looks weird!!! Nobody is arguing for the animals we keep as pets, that we take to the vet to have their ears and tails chopped off so that they look right? I mean just come out and say it and it's a free country. Who's going to take that parental right to go trim your little boy's penis so that it looks right.

It does also ask to wonder why this practice is so prevalent in ultra-religious societies, the U.S., Israel and Muslim-based countries.

I am in my 60s and being cut was cultural as is having my sons cut. By my grandsons are uncut. That is the right decision. If I had it to do over again I would not have had my sons cut. Why tamper with what nature has put there for our pleasure.

My brother and I were born at home in the country in Ohio. A country doctor came to the house to assist. We were uncut. Never had any problems. My dad was uncut. I have seen him pee many time on the farm. his foreskin came beyond his cockhead.

Yes, I can imagine a Doberman without its ears and tail cropped. And I think it would look much better. One thing I can't imagine is a circumcised dog, or anyone who would do it.

I'm on the same side as you lvprcm. But I think U.S. culture is changing with respect to genital cutting, albeit slowly. But social change is always slow. Basically, you wait on generations stuck in incorrect thinking to die off.

Even with the damaged ears, the Doberman is treated better in our culture than the man.

In my part of the country back then being uncut must have been a rarity. I never saw another uncut guy until high school. There were over 1000 males in my school at any one time. With years of gym classes and sports I saw most, but certainly not all, of the guys naked. In all the time I saw only two other uncut guys. I know times have changed and sure there are alot more uncut guys out there now. I did end up getting cut at age 30. So I guess you can say I have lived life on both sides of the fence. When our son was born we chose to leave him uncut.

My parents didn't think it was necessary and my dad and grampas were uncut. So in '70 they had to fight and argue quite a bit with the doctors in Idaho and had to go as far as to threaten a lawsuit when this wasn't nearly so common as today because the docs insisted on cutting me. I had to stay in the hospital for a few weeks when I was born so they really had to make sure they didn't come in and cut me during my stay. Fucking ghouls - they were after me lucky charm!

But just like MC1000 I was always the only uncut guy and maybe saw 1 or 2 uncut boys my age ever and I went to several different schools from tiny to giant sized in different states. We even had to dress out and shower for gym at my very small K-12 school in Oklahoma starting in the first grade.
