I don't know if you've been a brat but if you have then you'll know what to expect :

YouTube - BEAT ON THE BRAT LYRICS

the ramones have stood the test of time, more so than the clash. i ate pizza backstage with the ramones in brooklyn, when i was a lad, because i knew someone in the band that opened for them that night. the ramones are long time favorites of mine. not to be taken too seriously as much of early punk was tongue-in-cheek.

as in - "i just have to tell 'em that i've got no cerebellum"
and- "there's just no stoppin' those cretins from hoppin' "

yeah, i deserve a spanking. i need to learn some manners. beat on the brat. i deserve it.

I love the Kinks!

YouTube - The Kinks - Lola

YouTube - The Kinks - A well respected man

Love this version of Knockin' on Heaven's Door:

YouTube - Bob Dylan with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Knockin' On Heaven's Door

I saw a thread earlier today talking about the musical Hair and it reminded me of this cover of the song by The 5th Dimension. It's a medley of Aquarius and Let the Sunshine in:

YouTube - The 5th Dimension - Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In

Love Motown and Marvin Gaye:

YouTube - Marvin Gaye - What's going on

And of course, some Hendrix:

YouTube - Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return) (Original)

thanks for "knockin' on heaven's door". it's such a great song.
here's the original audio-

the new rolling stone interview (14 may 2009 issue) with dylan is good. dylan never ceases to amaze and defy.
one of his quotes in the interview "morality gets a bad rap" shows us just where we stand at this moment
in history.

I know, Bob Dylan is a musical genius. I'm not sure if this song has already been posted, but if it hasn't, enjoy:

YouTube - Bob Dylan - Like a rolling stone

One of the greatest songs of all time, in my opinion.

I know, Bob Dylan is a musical genius.

if something was ever really good, it will always be meaningful.

dylan's best stuff, in my opinion, was from his years in new york city
when he was in his 20's. "mr. tambourine man" opened the door to poetic metaphor in rock music, it's really interesting how one thing leads to another
and how one person can change everything.

I'm also partial to the idea of the song Hurricane by Dylan. It's not one of my favourites, but to think that a white musician would write a song in the defense of a black "convict" during that time period just awes me.

This song has nothing to do with Dylan, but I just love it:

YouTube - Fools Garden - Lemon Tree

It's just so bittersweet.
