Hick, I think a better demand is: Show me evolution.

See, I'm not a particularly religious fellah. While I CAN test the existence of God/Magic, I cannot get consistent results. This bothers me.

On the other hand, however, my belief system is structured around a Theory that cannot be proven: evolution. This theory states that all life arose from a single common ancestor, some billions of years ago. Yes, I can see modern evolution in action. I can look at fossils and infer that evolution was at work eons ago. But I cannot PROVE that everything alive today is the descendant of a single first life-form. Yet, without this theory, the rest of my science crumbles. I must have faith in evolution in order to proceed with my life's endeavors.

So, who am I to judge those who have faith in something else? Their God is my evolution, without which all else falls apart.

(btw, while nobody can actually see electricity, its effects can be directly and reproducibly observed. scientifically speaking, this is the same as "seeing" it.)
