There are times that even I cannot overlook FOX. Having been born and raised in Southern California imagine my dismay when stuck listening to the FOX News Channel this evening in a restaurant in New Mexico I see and hear a FOX commentator talking about the huge fire burning brush and structures 50 miles West of Los Angeles.
I guess nobody over there ever verifies anything because this would mean a brushfire in the Pacific Ocean. Catalina Island is directly West of Los Angeles and the distance of that is only 26 miles. The Channel Islands would NOT be directly West they would be Northwest and are off the coast of Santa Barbara.
The only fire I could find of a similar description was in Riverside County which is about 50 miles East of Los Angeles more or less depending on what part. They sat there so certain of themselves and nobody ever checked a map.
If they can't get that one right it would tend to lend credence to the concept that just maybe they don't care too much about the accuracy of their reporting. I hope that they have this corrected by now because there are going to be a great number of very puzzled people in Riverside County wondering why FOX is not reporting the losses of their homes and a great number of people on the West side of Catalina Island looking for the burning brush in the middle of the ocean.
