Frank Ocean, the very talented R&B singer and songwriter, posted a letter on his tumblr the other day, revealing his bisexuality. It's pretty moving. (I hope this hasn't been posted already, and if it has, please merge/move/delete and sorry in advance, mods)

Here's an excerpt:

Four summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old; he was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I’d see him and his smile. I’d hear his conversation and his silence until it was time to sleep. Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless. It was no escaping, no negotiating with the feelings. No choice. It was my first love. It changed my life.

And here's the whole thing:

Yep, I'm pretty proud of him. Hip-hop/R&B is a tough game but with Frank Ocean's recent admission and cats like Jay-Z and A$AP Rocky speaking out against homophobia, it seems like the genre's finally becoming more embracing of LGBT people. Some might argue that it's still wildly misogynistic, but I think that's also because there's not enough female MCs out in the mainstream doing it right. Anyway, good for him. Also, I like the way Tyler was all NBD about it.

It's a good model to follow.

I was proud that he did it, but it was dampened a bit considering he was dropping an album a few days later...

but then again, he would've had to come out anyways considering his new single "Bad Religion" where he gets into the whole topic.

Anyways, i felt so close to him when i read that note. I went (or rather, "i am going") through the same thing so i knew exactly how he feels. Every time i think about his note, i go back to that place and time.

"Peculiar relationship". *sigh* I feel you, Frank.
