Well I hear about this new Movie thing call "Borat" something or other, I'm really not interested except I noticed he looks almost exactly like Frank Zappa(one of my gods)

    Frank

    Borat

Borat looks like Zappa in the later years, when he cut all his hair off.

Can either of you two play any Zappa? His guitar playing was SICK!!! If y'all can play his crazy phrases, I bow to you! You must be a guitar god if you have little Stevie Vai transcribing your solos for you! Frank was way ahead of his time... Sasha Baron Cohen is a trailblazing comedian... They actually have more in common than their height and "crazy hair"!

I've never checked much Zappa out, I really should. I only ever heard his stuff when I was a little kid but it went over my head back then, I was more interested in what Skid Row and Poison were doing...

Yea, actually my band recently did a live cover of "Dynamo Hum"!

I have the most Zappa-esque voice, so I sang, and I also played the bass on that song. We only had a bass, guitar, drums, and keyboard though... So no xylophone! or Sax!

    Wasn't as good, but hey!

    Meph!

You CAN'T do Zappa without a XYLOPHONE! How would you add the eyebrows? (his term).

I'm a BIG fan of Zappa (and Borat, for that matter). Zappa is one of the geniuses of our age. I have a musician buddy who bought one of the early Synclaviers, and used it as an excuse to introduce himself to Zappa. My pal was exceptional in his musiical craft, but Zappa beat him easily--he was almost impossibly musically adroit.

You need to read this book. And marvel at Dwezil's largely uncredited illustrations.

I know, not only couldnt we find a xylophone, but we didnt know anyone who could play it!

It made me feel a little bad, but I think it went nicely all the same... Though not as good as Zappa had.

Personally, I think Zappa is the most brilliant composer modern music has ever seen, and dare I say, "will" ever see.

It makes me really sick to know that he died so young, he could hve done so much more with his life. It's sickening.

Damn Cancer! Almost makes me want to give up smoking.

BTW: Tripod, I'm digging the new Avatar Pic :p

Zappa is great for sure. I rented a dvd with a few live performances throughout his career and it was great stuff. I loved his sense of humor it was so off beat but so right on!

Zappa was an Xtreme smoker. Someone once challenged him on the hypocrisy of encouraging kids to stay off drugs when he smoked so heavily. "Cigarettes are not drugs" he said, "Cigarettes are food."

Mr. Cohen aka Borat aka Ali G is fucking funny - of course his humour would be lost on those without a sense of irony - post modern or otherwise - and he has a pretty big cock.

"Let's be realistic about this... the guitar can be the single most blasphemous device on the face of the earth. That's why I like it... the disgusting stink of a too-loud electric guitar: now that's my idea of a good time." - Frank Zappa

I thnk a lot of ppl have misunderstood this thread.

It's not about who is better... Let's face it, you cant even comapre these two, they are in two different kinds of entertainment.

I started this thread to see if anyone else thought that Borat looks like Zappa.

    I think he does!
