The other day I noticed a few bumps around my anus. I have not had sexual contact in this area, ever. There are several bumps that are white and painless. Everything that I am reading points to anal warts though each article is saying that you need to have direct skin to skin contact with the effected area. I've also read that HPV can lay dormant for years. I'm concerned that I possibly contracted something through unprotected sex years ago or by awful coincidence (gym, hot tub, etc) and for whatever the reason is showing up now in a place that hasn't been contacted.

I'm planning to go to the doctor asap and am wondering if anyone here may know what I'm experiencing. I've been extremely stressed out and anxious lately. My diet is generally healthy and I'm active.

Definitely go to your doctor. There are all kinds of reasons that bumps form on skin. An examination by a professional is the best way to figure out what's up.

HPV can move to many places in the body after you get infected. And, it can lead to cancer in all sorts of spots There's no shame in it - most guys (gay or straight) get infected at one point or another. It is why we all need to encourage our kids (boys and girls) to get the HPV vaccine before they are sexually active. Get to the doctor and wait for their diagnosis and treatment. And don't get too worried - warts can be removed and cancers can take years to develop (and you can periodically check for anal cancer using the new stool sample test which is not invasive).

you never had this anywhere else on your body? if it's HPV or warts, it would be strange for your first flare-up ever to be in a place you never had genitals touching... you sure you never had a dick in your crack? that kind of stuff doesn't just spread from pool water or gym towels, or else everyone would have it.

it's likely to just be some irritated skin or ass-pimples, too. is this right around your hole? warts and pimples are very different, so you should be able to tell. but yeah, if you're worried, DEFINITELY see a doc. i mean, i don't like having to go to doctors either, but if i had asswarts, i'd be there in a heartbeat
