free paris wi-fi??

anyone here from paris, or go to paris regularly that could tell me if its true there is free wi-fi in much of the city? and if so, how pervasive/accessible is it?

i dunno about france but if its like here in the uk there are many hotels, bars, cafes, libraries, book shops etc that offer free wifi. all u need to do is turn up with ur laptop, ipad or whatever and away u go. U might even pic up a wifi signal in ur hotel room from a nearby house that hasnt scurely locked their wifi.

Yes there is a free municipal wifi. Not covering the full city, but definitely available in streets, parks, etc.
Be aware that the network is shut down at night around 22:00. Don't a
sk me why, i have no idea.
Of course, a lot of bars, cafés also offer free wifi. You can also check Fon network, free if you are a member.
