It seems like we have a pretty good sense of what and whom to believe around here. In a way, I laugh a bit at this thread because, being an Internet user for forever-and-a-day here, it seems almost second-nature to start figuring up authenticity, right from the starts. Nowadays, I hardly give thought to a picture, especially one of a disembodied dick. What's the point?
It seems that our core support group is one part exhibitionism and five parts goodwill toward sharing experiences, opinions, and advice. The notion that this is a Support group first and a picture parade later has been almost beat to death, and I totally respect that. I'm not blaming anyone specifically, but I almost feel at a loss for just putting my face up on the MSN group; though I don't take it offensively, I do get a little unnerved at being told how (digital camera or webcam) and why (because "I bet it looks hot!") I should post a picture of my endowment. So the fuck what, I think. I have no qualms about discussing it or showing it in person; if you've got the frequent flyer miles, I've got more than enough spare time.
For those who like being what they're not, well, I'm sure we could brainstorm which issue or issues may play into that interpersonal distress. Do people lie because it's so easy? Because the Internet is a filter of anonymity? Are there discomfort or inadequacy issues? And perhaps more relevant to us as a group, is it vital to have an eight-inch or bigger erection to feel welcomed to the group, to belong?
(Pardon me a moment, ladies.)
Guys, let's be a little more honest, and I'll start. I'm well over the "average Joe" size, and I can say with certainty that this would probably be the only place that I feel a little more competitive with the ego. It's not so overt, I guess; I mean, I won't try to hold some superiority over, for instance, the people in the MSN chat room if my dick happens to be a half-inch bigger lengthwise or in girth. I don't feel threatened if John the Horse comes a'-strollin' in; I'm well aware of his 10x7 and I'm not intimidated, and he usually keeps it quiet and cool. So, in other words, I don't think we're brutes in ascertaining who's king of this proverbial mountain, but it still gets me thinking...
If this were a real-life face-to-face situation, would I feel a little more unnerved? Especially if it came time to whip out the goods and see who's boss?
(Can't say for sure.)
In the meantime, I think we have a high tolerance and demand for honest folks around here; so long as we keep good dialogue going, I don't think some fake pictures threaten that.
