Actually yes, it is worse. A snapped string on a tampon is no big deal and doesn't require me to run around outside in the rain weighing down a rogue tarp with rocks!

Do you know what the best thing a woman can do if the string breaks on a tampon? Masturbate. Lubrication will help and the contractions of the muscles will push the tampon down. This is advise from an Ob to a friend of mine (no really, it wasn't me, I'd tell you if it was) who called when she broke the string on a tampon and couldn't reach it to get it out.
