Wow! Those are great reflexes on Bush's part, he would have been knocked out if either shoe had made contact with his head. And that's after flying half way around the world--Jet lag be damned. I want him on my dodgeball team.

This tells you how much democratic progress has been made in Iraq that this "journalist" feels free and secure enough to to this. Under Sadam Hussein the shoe thrower wouldn't have had the balls to do it. He would have had every nail ripped with pliers from his hands, tortured for days and then him and his family would be hanged. Ah, the wonders of American style democracy and freedom strikes again---Germany, Japan, Panama, Iraq . . . Their citizens can now hurl insults, pies, shoes, feces and whaterver else at the US President and their own leaders without fear or retribution.

You're trying to make Bush's actions seem rational by comparing apples and oranges.

Further, during Hussein's reign, there was dissent and violent acts plotted, and at least on one occasion in the 80s, there was an attempt made on his life.

I really like the Iraqi Prime Minister's half assed attempt to block the 2nd shoe. And Bush's attitude of w/e when he said "So what if the guy threw a shoe at me?"

This video, to me, defines Bush's presidency

If you look a little deeper into this issue it explains a lot about Iraq. As a child, this journalist wasn't able to engage in sports or learn basic physical skills such as throwing. Instead, his childhood was dedicated to terrorist training and learning about virgins in Heaven.

Now, as an adult, he cannot hit a 62 year-old man at close range...with two chances.

If that were true each projectile would have been a grenade and he wouldn't have missed.

From what I understand, grenades are thrown with more of a 'hook shot' -type lob. Wartrac? Can you verify?

Whereas, a shoe-hurl resembles that of a pitch in baseball. The journalist's form was poor, he stepped with the wrong foot, wasn't square to the target, and he didn't follow through or get proper shoulder rotation.

It was also noted that the person throwing the shoe was a size 10.
Perhaps if he was more of a 12 or a 13 he would have gotten a "strike"?

Actually, both the thrower and the target were impressive. They guy put both shoes right into the right place, but Bush's reflexes were up to the task. He ducked two of those before his security agent even reacted.

It was amazing Bush's reflexes. Bush knows Iraq is still a very dangerous place in spite of the surge to nowhere. Every visit by anyone has to be a 'surprise'. God knows it can't be pre-announced.

If it came down to hand-to-hand combat, Bush would have pummeled that guy. He was poised and unfazed. Those lunatic terrorists lose their composure easily, Bush was cool as the other side of the pillow.

Maybe, this was all a publicity stunt. Why throw a fucking pair of shoes at this stage of the game?

The whole ordeal was funny. No one had EVER thrown shoes at any other President other than Geo. THAT speaks volumes right there.

Actually, somebody threw a shoe at his pops when H was doing a college commencement address because his speech was so long.

Dont worry people. BO will be attacked the same way. His policies will not differ greatly. Hes already been bitch slapped by Aminthemoodforjihad:
So Much For Carrots and Sticks : NO QUARTER
"Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Hasan Qashqavi, said Monday that Obama’s proposed policy was unacceptable and had failed in the past."

whoever thinks he will be treated differently based on his skin color is SORELY mistaken. They hate him more for converting to christianity from muslim. You just wait.

really, the fucking ingrate, who now has this freedom to express himself in this way thanks to the sacrifice of people he doesnt know on the other side of the planet - should be treated like saddam treated his own citizens, and fuck waterboarding.

    YouTube - sadaam torture

If this were clinton or anyone els representing the USA - NO CITIZEN _ I REPEAT...NONE should be applauding , as no citizen, no matter their party affiliation should applaud the assault of their leader. Its sad it takes the election of someone in your own party to even get a spark of patriotism out of you ilk.

    Duuude--

This isn't a matter of racial prejudice. I don't hate Bush because he is white.
I don't have any prejudices towards anyone. And you are talking to a guy who knows racially prejudiced white lesbians and gay folk and homophobic African-American families.
