This maybe a morbid conversation, but I was just wondering.
Before you die, what would you like your funeral song to be. You know the usuals, gospel sing, choir songs{maybe some originals}, scream and shouts or just simple retrospection.

I have pondered this long and hard and the day I part ways with this earth and go on to another realm.
I want my funeral song to be "I'm free"-Jon Secada song.
I love blues so please play the Marvin Sease song-"Gone On"

I have more to mention, just too many to post. What are some of yours?

Definitely a funeral for me. I've planned and pre-paid for a cremation etc. Two featured songs: Be Still by the Fray and Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel. And I want tears & laughter there - and food, lots and lots of food.

I am not having any kind of funeral service at all! I forbid it.

Instead, I want all my friends to go see a Chili Peppers concert and then go home and fuck their brains out. That's celebrating life to me.

Well, I don't want it to be a funeral exactly.

If anything, it should be a celebration, as weird as that might sound. I don't want people to cry when I die, I want them to be happy and celebrate the fact that I've just gone on my next great adventure into the afterlife.

For music, I'd want something a bit more upbeat and happy to reinforce that mood, something that'll bring smiles to their faces. Heck, I'd even go with "Banana Phone" because it's such a random, but upbeat song. At the top of my head right now, though, I've got nothing.

Don't Pay The Ferryman.......(till he gets you to the...Other side) :)
maybe The Never Ending Story. Most of us are kids at heart till the day we go, it's just the body can't keep up :)

I dunno, someone will pick out something. If not, too bad. I want to have my ashes tipped into the ocean anyway. Maybe something celtic... Ornico Flow.

I don't want a funeral, memorial party or anything else. I don't like when people cry in the church, but happily laugh, dance and drink at the memorial service. Then there are the vultures you haven't seen since the last ice-age, suddenly 'caring' about your death and eating all the free food. I don't like parties, anyway. So, to avoid the things that annoyed me in life - there won't be a gathering at all.

Instead, my organs (if they're in good condition) will be given to those that need them and my body placed in a hole to feed the earth. Or, I might be cremated and have my ashes scattered in a forest I'm particularly fond of - I haven't decided yet. If I am cremated, I think this song would be appropriate. It's better to go out in style.

Played very loudly as the congregation enters,
Voulez-Vous by Abba.
Pachelbel's Canon in D
Chiquitita by Abba
Hell's Gallop from Offenbach's 'Can-Can' (the most exciting piece of music for the most exciting moment as the coffin is committed)
'The Departure of the Guests' from Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet (No.17)

An ABBA fan! I like that! How about Like an Angel Passing Through My Room? Too depressing I guess.

Why do they only have funerals during the day anyway. Wonder if you can have them at night with fireworks and stuff?

I once attended an all-ABBA funeral. It was uplifting! Taking us all by surprise with the opening Dancing Queen and ending with Thank You For The Music.

Those of you that say you don't want a funeral or any such gathering, please be mindful that it's not for your benefit. The funeral, celebration or whatever is for your relatives and friends to provide closure. Give them that option.

I'm to be cremated, I'll prepay for a gathering somewhere, and my ashes (in a biodegradable container) will be placed in the family plot. And I want a modest flat stone. Everyone should have a stone that announces that you were here.

In the last moments of the gathering, I would have them play the Humming Chorus from Madama Butterfly.
