I have an online friend that has it. It's a horrible, horrible disease.

I'll try to copy and paste what she's told me about it on line...how she has been dealing with it and what she expects.

I'm sorry you have this. It sounds like it's just horrible to live with symptoms like that.

It sounds really grim, Indy. :(

I had something similar for a while in my late teens (but not as severely, by the sounds of it) - and those symptoms are really debilitating and hard to live with. :( I hope you find ways to alleviate it substantially, man.

I take one of the drugs that the FDA pulled from the market. I get it from a reputable pharmacy in Canada where it is still legal. It's called Domperidone and really helps! You might pass that info along to your friend. BTW, your friend described what living with GP is like perfectly.
I'm going in for a "new" treatment in a few weeks. Believe it or not I'm getting Botox. Though it's not what you think. Seeing my stomach is paralyzed, food just sits there for hours until it either clears my stomach or I vomit. At the bottom of your stomach there is a valve separating the stomach from your lower GI tract. It is normally closed. They are going to inject my valve with Botox to paralyze it so it opens. The hope is that food will then be able to exit my stomach by gravity. The doc says it works 50% of the time. I hope it works for me. I used to weigh about 180 but now hover around 160.

Those reports sound horrific. I think I severely underestimated what it's like for people to deal with. :/

I experienced gastroparesis once due to a reaction I had to a drug which had been administered by my doctor.

The 2 days that my stomach did not work would best be described as hellish.

I am diabetic but I don't have any neuropathy - typically my stomach is just fine. With the acute case of gastroparesis my blood glucose was all over the place - both hypo- and hyper-glycemia.

Industrialsize, my heart goes out to you. I experienced only 2 days of it and it was like being run through the wringer. 3 years and counting for you...I can't really imagine it.

My wish is that you are able to live the life you want regardless of the disorder.
