It's been going well. Very well. I cooked up a feast yesterday. Called some friends and wished my sister a happy birthday. All and all not bad.
There is nothing wrong with transactional sex, but you should never use it as a method for soothing loneliness. I’m somewhat of a misanthrope so loneliness isn’t as crushing for me as it might be for others. In fact I find my ability to regulate “being alone” as a superpower. Most human beings are slaves to the affections of others and often crave interpersonal stimuli like it’s a drug addiction. I understand this and I’m in no way undermining the importance of human to human contact but I believe society places waay too much unrealistic demands on having these “relationships.” Oh and If you‘re gay and watch romcoms good luck with that bullshtt. You’ll be fed a consistent diet of fantasy driven nonsense that only 2 percent of gay men may achieve. Our lives will be tough even under the best circumstances. I’ve accepted that years ago and I avoid naive conformists who insists otherwise.
I’ve been off for the holiday week and it’s been enjoyable. I’ve rewatched several Star Trek films and other good movies. I’ve avoided phone calls from people who only call on the holidays, and I’ve stuffed my face with comfort foods. I wanted to visit the animal shelter to consider adopting a cat but I fear I may leave with every cat in the shelter because they’re all so cute lol

I made turkey wings, mac and cheese, candied yams and homemade ice cream.
Not bad per se, just found myself having to stand up for myself in ways I hadn't before.

SO... how come when I ask stuff like this online it's always crickets?
how do you guys all find "community" online?
Maybe there weren’t any suitable alternatives to provide to you. Or maybe the types of people passing through this thread aren’t interested in those sort of events. I don’t know.
As for finding “community online.” I would first say if it doesn’t already exist offline then the chances of finding something organic and vibrant online are slim. Also, just so I’m clear, are you specifically searching for “Black Groups” when you say “community?” If so, much luck.

Oh I understand now. In that case you’d have to do some deep digging. If you haven’t already, try all the usual suspects first like Twitter, Reddit and alternative forum sites such as this one. As an onlooker myself, those types of spaces would probably interest me too. Particularly if they’re posting photos/videos and sharing stories. I sometimes enjoy living vicariously through the experiences of others. Especially when it comes to sex. It keeps me safe.

No, I've done that long ago. I don't speak with any in my family, and only one recently who I honestly forgot about because the rest of my family has proven to me they will not be in my life.
I'm with Kanashi on this one. I haven't even really found community IRL. I am always in a white dominated area. In fact, I'm moving to a place I really love the energy of, but its 60.9% white, 36.9% gay, with a 0.8% black population, and I will probably be the only gay black man there.
As far as online, this is the closest I have to "community," honestly. So, I guess the answer, I don't find "community" online, not for a lack of trying, but I have never really fit in with groups where there is only one sphere of similarity, whether that's veteran, black, gay, etc., because I don't really identify to the degree others do to those labels or what many feel they mean.
