Just wanted to thank the gay community at large and encourage my fellow straight men to utilize this valuable resource.

Gay guys have been a massive help to me, they helped me make my house much more female friendly by picking out new furniture, designing window treatments, and helping me choose paint colors. They also have the inside scoop on any kind of local theatre happenings, hot new restaurant openings and the entire cultural scene. Most importantly they hooked me up with a good hair stylist, waxer, and started helping me shop for clothes. I owe most of my recent success with the ladies to my gay friends.

To other straights without gay friends, you could use some. Because gay guys are so feminine, they're advice is just as valuable as a females, but they don't judge you for just wanting casual sex.

You know that chivalry is just as sexist as slut-shaming or calling someone a bitch, right? The reason for this is because the central theme has not changed. The constant here is treating the target as something less than; an object to be manipulated or pleased, yet an object all the same.

What IS different is the attitude; rather than being negative, it is positive. Even positive sexism (i.e. chivalry) is still sexist; control and respect remains in the hand of the straight & white male.

Here the OP is treating gay men as less than, a "resource". This engages in (and encourages) the oppression of the LGBT community every bit as much as being outright homophobic.

At the end of the day, I do NOT care whether or not you're a nice guy. I've spent enough time in my life understanding that I need to FIGHT for my own rights. A change only in whether your attitude is positive or negative about the status quo does not change that fact.
What I DO care about is whether or not you are allowing (one way or another) the oppression I experience as a man who is not straight to be an institutionalized part of our society. The attitude of the OP here is doing exactly that (allowing that oppression to be an institutionalized part of our society).

You just seriously sat your laptop, logged into this site, said to yourself "Now would be the perfect time to be an offensive dick", and typed the most ass-fucked thank you that you could. Is that about right? I can't speak for everyone else, but that's what I just got from that.

Lol really, no one has attached him yet? **gets the popcorn and waits for it**

Did you see my post? It wasn't an outright attack, but I DEFINITELY call him out on what he seems to think is progressive by ANY means whatsoever.

@Dante; Yea, I'm not sure how he really could have made that more offensive than it already is. Maybe if he added in one or two gay slurs...

I neither condone nor condemn the OP. I do, however, want to remind everyone, especially the OP, that he is in debt to the gay community for his so called success... you owe us. YOU CAN BET THAT SWEET ASS WE WILL COME COLLECT. I just hope for your sake you have a bottle of lube handy when the time comes ;)

Wow dude, you are a first rate asshole. I have nothing but good things to say about the gay community and you still moan and bitch. I admit, using the word "resource" may have been a bit offensive to the hypersensitive, but I meant as a compliment. The overall point if my post was to thank gay people, and also let other straight men know that gay dudes are an ally in their quest for pussy.

And also, I don't just use these people, I also help them with things. The other day i helped my friends Heath and Ramone upholster a headboard for the guest room at their new beach condo. I have a lot of handyman (no homo) experience and help out my gay friends with projects that require getting dirty.

Excuse me? But we can we please dissect this?

Just wanted to thank the gay community at large and encourage my fellow straight men to utilize this valuable resource.

What I have highlighted in blue, I will go ahead and say that I personally don't see anything wrong with that. Maybe in your heart you're thinking "dudes, let's spread some unity!". I'm cool with that.

What I've highlighted in green is where the "what the fuck" unfolds. Not all gay men are how we're often portrayed in the media. And we're not all making efforts to do Queer Eye for the Straight Gay. We're not all about waxing and window treatments, and interior design. Don't generalize us like that. And where you finished the "what the fuck" is what I have highlighted in purple. We are not all feminine. And instead of paying us a compliment, you insulted us. Yes, some of us may be in touch with our feminine sides, but a large number of us are just as in touch as any other man.

So please don't make the mistake of assuming that we're all defined by our sexual-orientation ever again. We are not. We are men.

People look into things too much...I think the OP had good intentions but some people are just looking for something to be upset about. I don't have any personal gay best friends (that I know of) but I know a few gay guys, that are pretty hilarious and definitely don't mind hanging out with them when I'm with other company (theyre friends of friends) Anyways, good for the OP...a big part of life is networking and limiting it to solely straight people won't help you get anywhere. Cheers!
