it just ain't f*****g unless it is flesh to flesh

that's why if you're going to do it, know your condition, be sure you're right, and know whom you're doing it with

I've heard that before and "If you loved me you would do it <bareback>."

I love when gay personals say, D&D free UB2....means nothing

which means that if you want to do it bareback

...You'll be throwing caution to the wind.

what striking me now, is how readily everyone seems to be to jump in the sack with someone they have just met, or just picked up in a bar, singles website, or other ad

seems to be the ongoing assumption ...

I do it ONLY because my partner and I are in a monogamous 4-year relationship. Otherwise, I'd wrap it up.

It's a personal choice between two consenting adults, but I'm not a big risk taker, so if I were single, barebacking would not be an option for me.

Of course not, but people looking to forget about being careful would think seeing these healthy-looking guys barebacking was much less cause to worry. I maybe saw one or two with guys who looked like they had some sort of rash all over, were spotted-looking, I think that sometimes happens (the old porn star Scott O'Hara talked about being spotted all over when his AIDS really took hold)--but most of them really were not. The kind of bareback porn where all the models look in good health is the more dangerous, but the other kind wouldn't sell. In fact, if they're first starting out in the porn business, they might be healthy and it didn't show up for awhile, until after many partners.
ahahahahaha!
plague porn would be hawt!
shit, i've seen 70's porn where the guy has warts and is fucking the girl without rubber *shudder*
but it's a porn debate...they make safe sex porn and it just doesn't sell as well.

true.
if you're willing to wait months, to date and build up trust, to both be tested and commit to monogomy, then you're reducing your risks considerably.

No, I was just using shorthand to say that they obviously do the barebacking with healthy looking models as pure marketing. There is still plenty of safe porn, and if the directors and producers like Chi Chi La Rue prevail, as I of course hope they will, then safe porn will certainly sell 'as well as barebacking' because that would be all there is, and porn of some sort always sells. The porn fashions would, though, change only when the general trends changed--and those have been: A greater laxity among younger gays in particular, to dispense with condoms doing barebacking. That's just basic, but people aren't following it as much as they used to. I knew a 19 year old a couple of years ago who rented a room from me, and was always coming back with tales of unprotected sex, no matter how much I told him he needed it (I didn't overdo it, because he wasn't paying attention to what I said the first times anyway; as far as I could tell, he never used condoms).

This is NOT a porn debate, I just pointed out how porn had cynically used the current modes to sell itself better. Obviously, people who want to do bareback in real life are going to want to see only barebacking in their porn. That's all, and I don't want to argue about this further.

its strange people go on about gay guys fucking bareback yet straights fuck bare all the time and nothing is said about them doing it.
How can it be right for straights not to use condoms yet its bad if guys do it?
This isn't just a moral issue. It is about your chances of getting aids. It is based on statistics. Statistics mean absolutely nothing if the person you are having sex with has aids and you get it. Monster is correct. If only one straight person in the world has aids and you have bareback sex with them, you are toast. On the other hand, if you are having sex with the only gay guy in the world who isn't HIV positive, you are safe.

It is about how much you are willing to trust your partner. As I tell young people, you are not only having sex with that person, but also with every person that your partner has had sex with and all the way back. It could be in the hundreds if you count them all.

The only way to have safe bareback sex is for both partners to not have had sex in the past six months and both of you test HIV negative or both of you are virgins. Otherwise there is a risk. A risk I would not be willing to take.

is meth like a plague within the gay community or is it media hype? i am not out, so i guess i dont really know....

Yes, it really is. I hadn't even known about it till I saw this hyped on posters in Chelsea, here in NYC. Then started hearing more about it rather destroying people on Indian reservations, having nothing to do with gay sex. I don't know if this is a relatively new amphetamine or whether it's been around for a long time (I heard of meth-something 25 years ago at least), but just became popular in the 90s the was Ecstasy did (this is another one that is supposed to make you really lose inhibitions, I believe, but I don't know, I've never taken either.)

The gay motel I stay in in Los Angeles was where I found out a lot of guys were really doing it for promiscuous sex, because some of them told me about it, and as though it were something perfectly natural and accepted to be doing. I couldn't believe it! Since then (that was 2004), I imagined I thought I saw guys on it, but that was the only time I talked to people who were using it and thought it was just fine to be doing so.

that's definitely the wrong message to send, and it surely isn't even true--especially for the one who's getting fucked, who is the one who most often gets it. For the bottom, who needs the most protection, the sensation is not that different, and there are plenty of special condoms for the fucker to use as well that don't inhibit sensation as much as they did in the old days.

Im sorry but all your ignorant and over-generalizing comments are amazingly frustrating...

"Straight" People vary just as much as any other group when it comes to the use of condoms and other contraceptives...

The reason it is primarily a heterosexual disease in Africa is because of anal sex. They use anal sex as a form of birth control. That's not to say they are not spreading it vaginally, but they don't have access to IUD's, condoms, the pill, the bc patch, so anal sex is looked at as an alternative birth control method.

The study which you, and (unsurprisingly) other churches advocate was dismissed as unrepresentative of the population. The overwhelming majority of HIV researchers continue to believe that vaginal sex is the single overwhelming means of HIV transmission in Africa. There is no evidence that anal sex is used for birth control among any particular population. Indeed many sub-Saharan cultures have a taboo on anal sex.

Right. You need repeated tests and not just one or two.

Wrong. If two partners have been exclusive to each other over the period of six months then two tests would be considered conclusive. One at the three month period and another at the six month period. 99% of HIV+ people seroconvert within three months. In a few exceptional circumstances some did not convert until after that period but six months should show 99.9% of all seroconversions. Two tests are all you need to be considered HIV-.

Skin on skin is best which is why I don't fuck any more. I grew up and came out in the days before AIDS was known about and was VERY lucky to come through uninfected. I know that condoms are the only way to have safe sex but as a fucker I might as well be fucking a wellington boot fort all the pleasure I get. Try as I might I can't enjoy the sensation, so, sadly i have had to get used to the idea that I have had my last fuck. I have always been the fucker. I have never liked being fucked so that aspect is no loss.
I'm well into oral and hand jobs now, there is a lot more to sex than anal.

Yeah, I'm mostly like that too by now, although I'll fuck sometimes with a condom. Never gonna be as good, but plenty of people are able to get pleasure from it even if we don't that much. A guy tried to get me to fuck him last week, and I lost my hard-on by the time I got the fucker on my dick and lubed, so we just 'took a break' as they say. Happens that sometimes just putting on the rubber will be enough to get a soft-off, only if I'm totally excited for maybe an hour beforehand will I be able to fuck somebody with a condom. Now that I think of it, it's been years, and I've pretty much transitioned to hand and oral too. Since I like to get fucked too, though, I don't notice it from that end, as it were, but that's only happened twice in the last 5 years (and both times with condoms, definitely wouldn't allow anybody to bareback me).

I have barebacked and remember how good it felt, but now i cant even believe I took changes like that when I was younger. Even now, I have been with my man going on 6 years and we have never bareback, and I do not intend to also.

1. Just because some straight guys engage in barebacking, vaginal or otherwise, doesn't make it right for gay guys to do so!

2. Barebacking is not ONLY about the recipient risking his health/life. The consensual non-monogamous bottom and his top partner (the latter admittedly less at risk but still at risk) are not playing Russian roulette and will not just drop dead if infected, with limited cost to society.

The more statistically probable scenario is massive, very lengthy treatment, and the astronomical costs the rest of us have to shoulder for their grossly negligent behavior.

3. HIV/AIDS goes hand-in-hand with a host of not-so-sexy STDs, some of which can be transmitted without even fucking. Barebacking is in large part responsible for the anachronistic resurgence of other really unsavory STDs.

Just wear a condom or stick to 1 partner, out of respect for humanity, if not yourself.

Excuse me Mr. hypercrite, you say you wouldnt fuck anyone without a rubber, better take a look in your profile, either you are giving or receiving without a rubber on. And if the pic is not of you either giving or receiving, then your pics are all fake and you are trying to pass them off as you.

If you read the entire thread (did you) you'll see that my partner and myself were tested for 1 year prior to this happening, get you facts straight.

Just for the record, I've become quite fond of condoms (the German brand that mostly fits and is comfortable) because it's made fucking the poop pipe a lot less messy. Sometimes, no matter how careful we are, shit literally happens and that really turns me off. Not into scat and all that.

But then I'm old.

Why limit the thread to only gay guys?

Good post, rico. Barebacking, though usually associated with gays, is not exclusively a gay experience.

In any case, I'll only do this with a long-term lover (partner) and then only if both of us have had a number of HIV tests over a 6 month period. This has held true since 1988. Though I'll always prefer having a guy fuck and cum in my ass without a condom, I'm not stupid nor am I irresponsible or ignorant enough to think that it is a good practice with every cock I fall on!

But in my fantasies, it's what I dream of.
