I know we aren't supposed to stereotype but I have seen gay couples throughout my life that
play the role of "husband" and "wife" or "top" and "bottom". It is a reality and they seem be very content
in their roles. I see this in average citizens and celebrities. In the celebrity world I think of such couples as
Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Chasten Buttigieg, political and cultural commentator Dave Rubin and David Janet, and male model Aaron Thornton and Nick Ialacci. Secretary Pete is obviously the top and Chasten took his name when they married. Dave Rubin is the top and Janet probably would have
taken his last name but there would have been two David Rubins. Aaron Thornton is a very alpha male top to his much smaller partner Nick. In the lesbian world you have long time couples like Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner. Lily is the dominant "husband" and Jane is the submissive and quiet "bottom". Ellen DeGeneres is the mannish husband to her femme wife Portia de Rossi. It's just they way it is and they seem happy.
