I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan and while I've not seen any man-love in person, there is a reason they call Thursday "Man-Love Thursday." I have a lot more to say about what I have seen...but this definitely isn't the forum for it. Just like in our Army, "things happen."

We were pretty shocked. We discovered from the Afghan soldiers we had with us that a lot of men in this country have the same philosophy as ancient Greeks: ‘a woman for babies, a man for pleasure’

From some of the news footage I've seen, a lot of those Northern Alliance guys looked damned handsome.

I do not get the 'hahas'? But the timing of this post is weird, this month I've been reading Hassan Mujtaba, Vacation Cruise by Boone and Massad's piece on Arabs involved in male - male relationships. Fascinating stuff.

Kind of expected actually. In a world where sexual urges between opposite sexes is strictly forbidden it's almost a given this would occur. Pent up urges have to go somewhere.

Interesting. There was also a report of a body of photographs from the Taliban period of male pairs, often with kohl around their eyes, who had themselves photographed together before going on terrorist suicide missions.

Kandahar was founded by Alexander, and still bears his name: Kandahar=Iskandaria=Alexandropolis=Alexandria.

There were a couple of articles in National Geographic in the thirties of visitors passing through to India being entertained by local rulers with 'troops of disgusting effeminate lascivious dancing boys', made up and dressed as women.
