I had sex with about twenty guys. More or less. I used to keep score...if I really think about it more I could give an accurate number. I will stick with the vague twenty. I am 37. I start having sex at age twenty while I was in college. (I didn't have a serious boyfriend until 22. Lasted until I was 23. Then, I had gotten a second LTR boyfriend at age 29. It lasted for six years. (I really learned alot with my last one.) It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Paul Cameron?!?!?!!? OMG? Is this the same Paul Cameron who was kicked out of the APA? What a lying sack of shit nutcase. Yeah, if he told me it was day, I'd know it was night...

The one and only Paul Cameron and yes he was kicked out of the APA. If you check this website and others where gay men talk about the amount of sexual partners and any other kind of research on gay men, you'll find that Cameron's data was right on. Some of his other writings were just plain ridiculous.

Look, here's the thing:

I'll not deny that I've had more sex with more people than the average straight guy (or gay guy, for that matter), but what does that mean, aside from the fact that I'm slutty?

All that that means is that you were horny and had a lot of offers and you were more than happy to fulfill those requests.

Dang I used to keep track of this, I had a formula:

- three before college
- 20 during college
- starting in 1985, 3 visits/week to bathhouse @ 5 guys each = 15*52= 780/year
- 85-95 - 9-1/2 years - @ 780....= 7410.
- Deduct 5% for multiple encounters with same person...370.5
- and that's 7039.5.

In 1995 I met the hubby and have since had sex with perhaps um maybe 70 guys a year. So that's another 840 - again minus 5% and it's 798 + 7039.5 and for fun let's call that 7850.

This is higher than any number i've seen in this thread (not that I read every entry). I don't say that to brag, but rather to pose a thought:

in 98% of the 7850 male-male sexual encounters i particpated in between September 1985 and the present i swallowed semen.

again with a little math:

if over this entire period one could think that 10% of guys were HIV-positive, then....
- i sucked off at least 750 HIV-positive guys
- i'm concious of the risks of sucking with sores in yr mouth or immediately after flossing but have not paid real strict attention to that
- i'm still negative

So here's the thought and the question: if i've had so many risky sexual experiences, why am i still neg? Is it just luck, the virus hasn't been in the right place at the wrong time for me....or am I (and my uncle, more about him in a minute) possessed of some form of immunity?

My uncle is about 78. He had sex with men beginning in his late teens; married my aunt and had four children, then divorced and became attached to his partner Tom. In the 17th year of their union, Tom died of liver failure following a diagnosis of AIDS (at the time pretty much a death sentence). My uncle and Tom had alternating insertive anal sex for 17 years with no protection. My uncle remains HIV-negative.

Conspiracy fans and others: am I totally smokin' the crack pipe, or is it possible that my uncle and i share some sort of genetic thingy that might be useful in working on a vaccine?

Appreciate your thoughts.

That is very interesting, and proves that after 25 AIDS is still a very mysterious illness. Some people are more susceptible to any contagion. Two people could be exposed to one person coughing all over them and only one will get sick. You can say that maybe the one who got sick had a low immune system at the time, but maybe not. It just happened and we don't know why.

A study was recently ended on an AIDS vaccine because it failed. There were 3000 uninfected volunteers participating, and 24 people who received the vaccine got HIV, but 21 people who only got a placebo also got HIV.

"So here's the thought and the question: if I’ve had so many risky sexual experiences, why am I still neg?"

Some people have a genetic difference which means that the virus cannot enter their cells. This gives them immunity. This is why human variety is such a good thing as it hopefully means that one virus will not be able to kill us all. This is one of the reasons why anything that limits the human gene pool such as eugenics, genetic engineering or fascism is not a good idea!

I did read somewhere that people survived through the Black Death in the middle ages were immune to it and their descendants have a higher chance of being immune to HIV.

More on topic, I have had over 300+ guys.

If you mean by "slept with" - had sex with then:

Started when I was 27, now 20 yrs later @ 2-3 per week = 2-3,000.
Gosh that is a lot = I am a slut

If you mean by "slept with" - spent the night with, then the figure is more like less than 10

Come on folks...most of us gay men, when compared to straight men, have an infinitely larger number of sexual encounters. These astronomical numbers are always used to denigrate gay men...you know, degenerates who deserve this or that....Most heterosexual men with either good looks or money or both will get out there and get just as much sex. The only people fascinated by this are people who are sexually frustrated and resent people who are not. Tough shit folks!

I have no idea but it's in the thousands for sure. I lived in San Francisco in the pre aids 70s and early 80s, and averaged between 600 and 900 per year so go figure. At bath houses I'd often have five to ten partners in an evening, and lobed bath houses, toured Europe in the early 80s and visited the baths in every town or city I visited.

I also want to state I am a great advocate of recreational sex, but also an absolute believer in emotional sex. For the record my lover and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary in December. We have NEVER been monogomos, but we have ALWAYS lived by one rule, either one of us could sleep with anyone (male or female) once, the second time it had to be a three way.

Over the years we both have had serious sexual/romantic relationships with others, but I got to tell you, when you KNOW the guy you're with is the one who ultimately makes you happy, and that you also make him happy, there is never a threat to that relationship.

Don't be a puritan, enjoy the body God gave you.

this is true for everyone

hmm I really don't know
but for sure I've had sex with more folk than the average het
and for sure I've had sex less often than the average hetero
personally I'm more into counting quality than quantity
and honestly I'm not sure what all I would count as 'sex' anyway
I just thank gawd I recovered from all the abusive puritanical propaganda that I was force-fed while growing up, and now I no longer have shame or other hang-ups about my beautiful divine heaven-sent all-natural pleasurable pleasing pleasant body yeah!
wish everyone else could also get over themselves lol
love and light y'all

I won't comment on your uncle and his anal sex, but with regard to you and your oral sex, the reason why you're still negative is that the chances of getting HIV through oral sex are probably 1 in 100,000 or more. The European studies show this, but the U.S. studies, done by all of these sex-negative, politically influenced agencies and corporations in the U.S., won't admit that it's almost impossible to get HIV through oral sex. Put another way, if one get get HIV through oral sex, most gay men in the U.S. would be dead by now.
