I don't much like labels, but sometimes they are handy, I know, I know.

If anything, I would describe myself as bi, but if I were only attracted to males, I would say: homosexual.

I think (though I may be wrong) there is a difference between the two terms, not only in terms of formality, homosexual being more formal.

I think gay, in most cases, implies openness, a certain degree of conspicuousness, and finally a certain kind of lifestyle.

Homosexual seems to imply more reservedness, maybe even certain non-acceptance of the condition proper.

It may be easy to tell someone is gay, but a homosexual can hide himself.

Does this make any sense at all?

How about men who are attracted to the masculine beauty, but they don't necessarily have sex with other men? Are they homosexuals? In my opinions, labels and categories are stupid and unnecessary. It's all about who you are attracted to and, with whom you want to spend the rest of your life. Nobody should be judged.

I don't think calling yourself Homosexual implies not wanting to be open about your sexuality. Quite the opposite, it means you are totally comfortable with your sexuality but do not feel the need to associate yourself with the baggage of the term "Gay". I use both terms depending on the circumstances.

i agree with avg joe that nobody should be judged and labels are stupid. i read a articale about a study that said they had men watch men having sex with men and if the guys got aroused they were gay. me i like watching men and women having sex but i like having sex with men i love womens bodys and i love mens bodys what i dont like is people who hate people who are different then them. why does someone have to be intolerant of someone that has a different lifestyle, it doesn't hurt them we do they have to hurt someone else.

I always tell folks I am "Gay". I know that term can lend itself inadvertently to being flamboyant.

    HOWEVER.....

At this point in my life, fuck convention and all of it's subjective useless crap.

I am who I am. My sexuality does not define that at all.

Sorry if that sounded angry. I reckon that I was a lesbian freedom fighter in a past life. LOL

I shall say this once and once only. Stop trying to seduce my wife by describing yourself as happy in one short and sweet word that the poor lass does'nt recognise in its true meaning. You are a LESBIAN and she would'nt hang around with you if she knew the truth....

I prefer ass bandit and cocksucker. The more I learn about sexuality, the more I find sexuality labels to be unsatisfactory.

Whatever happened to the noble term, sodomite?

I'm rather non-plussed by all this 20th century business of pigeonholing (ahem!). For ages and in all places it was recognized that a man stuck his cock into anything that moved and that this was a natural urge. No girls and women around to be raped? Grab a boy! No boys around? Find a sheep! The one and only time a man's masculinity was ever challenged was when he acted as the receiver of a cock.

I tend to think people are far more flexible in their sexuality than we admit even to ourselves. I'm pretty sure that we're all pansexual in reality if not in practice.
