Sexual attraction is an emotion. How can any human emotion really be described with numbers?

People think sexual thoughts all day they we cannot read. And sexual taboos will keep people from being honest, especially males.

Remember that many men have same-sex attraction but have little interest in same-sex romance. This is influenced by two big factors: the impact of the taboo of male homosexuality in the psyche + the level of sexual attraction to women/opposite-sex romance. If a man has same-sex attraction but has high attraction to women for romance and high taboo factor in psyche, don't expect the man to even dream about same-sex romance (unless his sexually evolves a lot over time, which is not that likely but possible)

Being bi only means that you are attracted to people who are male and ones who are female. Bi people have emotions for the people who they are in relationships with, so i think your friend was wrong, sorry.

Personally, i dont really get attracted to someone until i get some sort of emotional and personal connection. Im sure that its different for all bi people though, just like not all gays and straights are the same.
Someone was explained to me that gay involves emotional attachment. Where as bi was strictly a physical attraction. I usually refrain from describing people with generalizions. To each there own.
Not trying to single you out or anything, just want to point out that thats a bit of a generalization. But i think you already knew that.

The issue is really about how you "self-identify", and that has nothing to do with measurable.

Homo, Hetero, Bi, Pan, A, etc... are terms to describe things in broad. Having just check boxes doesn't help people understand how you think of yourself.

0% Straight, 100% Gay does not mean that someone has 0% interest in women, or that they have/can never be attracted to a woman.
100% Straight, 0% Gay does not mean that someone has 0% interest in men, or that they have/can never be attracted to a man.
50% Straight, 50% Gay does not mean that someone is equally interested in women and/or men with no 'leaning' tendencies.

The percentages do help others get a sense of how you picture yourself and on how you present yourself.

Using the parameters you wrote here, would you feel safe drinking a pint of water that was labeled, "contains 0% ricin"?

There is absolutely no point in using this site's scale. It tells us nothing, because people apply it as they see fit, which is fine, but the result is little to no clarity.

*sigh* Here you go again... You probably already know that your hypothetical is an absurdity. Why do it?

The hypothetical isn't analogous.
(a) The pint of water isn't self-identifying.
(b) Most food/drink that labels itself 0% <whatever> may actually contain some <whatever>. Most people don't even know what 0% means, in terms of food. Nor do they begin to try to understand what is in their food or how it gets to them.
(c) You are arguing about hard science quantification, instead of soft science qualification.

There is absolutely no point in using this site's scale. It tells us nothing, because people apply it as they see fit, which is fine, but the result is little to no clarity.

It tells me how people self-identify or how they wish to be perceived. You may find that valueless, but I don't.

I have my gay percentage rating at 20% here on LPSG.

The main reason is I know I am bi... I am attracted and turned on by big cocks... especially THICK cocks! And cocks that expel huge loads! I find it is just big erections that turn me on. I want to look at, feel, hold and service a nice cock. But, I am not interested in the rest of a guy's body, nor am I interested in having any emotional relationship with a man. Its all about the dick!

It is at 20% because that is what is required as a minimum in order to participate in the bisexual forum here! I had my setting lowere, but they were deleting my posts because I did not "qualify"... so I changed it up to 20%.

I find I love the physical experience and having a solid "soul mate" relationship with a woman. I have a great girlfriend who knows I have done bi exploration, and is okay with that. Is NOT okay with me actively doing it while in a relationship with her. But the urge and attraction remains... she just doesn't have a cock, and I would like to play with one now and again. Its a struggle.

I think most guys have some bi in them, I think to be gay you have more that just interest in cocks. You find the whole male package desirable, ...kissing, cuddling, laying naked in bed together, looking deep into each other's eyes. I have none of that, so while there is a sexual desire for a big cock, I don't desire a man, if you know what I mean.

I don't see any sense in Gay percentage rating. So A guy with 100 sexual encounters. Of which 30 with women and 70 with other men. Then we can say: He is 30% str8 and 70% Gay ???.
To me It's as a paradox as saying f.e. 30% Dead 70% Alive!. What I mean is: One is ether Straight, OR Gay.
and nothing in between.

All I'll say is a quote I saw online.. "Heterosexuality is normal, just not very common." There are also tons of men and women out there married who are bi and gay, some that might never acts on their same sex attraction. I still believe no matter what people say there are a lot more bi and gay people in the world than will ever be known. I believe some gay haters and bashers could be gay also and are so scared of it they hate and bash other gays and lesbians in return. Then, some of those in later years give in to their intense sexual desire to experience gay sex in some way.

My two cents worth, no offense to anyone.

It just dosnt make sense that bi people are mixed straight and gay, yet we cant post in either the ask a straight or ask a gay sections.

I would post in the gay forum if you want to, I see lots of people who identify as bisexual replying there.

Objectively or subjectively..... or perhaps a combination.

I simply gives an individual a chance to express their sexuality on a scale.....
like a doctor or nurse might ask a patient to describe the pain on a scale of 1 to 10.

I have seen this too. But i know from experience that im not to post in the ask a straight male forum. I see this as just as fucked up as racial politics. Im half asian, so im not white enough to be white, just as im bi though this forum sees me as gay but not straight. This is especially annoying with so many straight men talking about their facination with penises and men in general.

Lol again that isn't what gay, bisexual, or heterosexual means. Gay means you are only attracted to be it emotionally, physically or romantically with only the same sex. Heterosexual means you are only attracted too be it emotionally, physically, or romantically with the opposite sex. Bisexual means you are attracted be it emotionally, sexually, or romantically with box sexes.
