Iran: Gay Teens Executed by Hanging

In the city of Mashhad in north-eastern Iran, two gay teens have been executed. One was 18 and the other is thought to have been 16 or 17. First they were lashed 228 times, though. Not long after the execution there were howls of outrage from the Iranian parliament - not at the execution itself, but at the temerity of journalists to report it. Direland reports:
Consensual gay sex in any form is punishable by death in the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to the website Age of Consent, which monitors such laws around the world, in Iran “Homosexuality is illegal, those charged with love-making Irangay_teens_2 are given a choice of four deathstyles: being hanged, stoned, halved by a sword, or dropped from the highest perch.

According to Article 152, if two men not related by blood are discovered naked under one cover without good reason, both will be punished at a judge’s discretion. Gay teens (Article 144) are also punished at a judge’s discretion. Rubbing one’s penis between the thighs without penetration (tafheed) shall be punished by 100 lashes for each offender. This act, known to the English-speaking world as frottage,’ is punishable by death if the ‘offender’ is a non-Muslim. If frottage is thrice repeated and penalty-lashes have failed to stop such repetitions, upon the fourth ‘offense’ both men will be put to death.

According to Article 156, a person who repents and confesses his gay behavior prior to his identification by four witnesses, may be pardoned. Even kissing ‘with lust’ (Article 155) is forbidden. This bizarre law works to eliminate old Persian male-bonding customs, including common kissing and holding hands in public.” And Outrage, in its release about the gay teens’ execution, noted that, “according to Iranian human rights campaigners, over 4000 lesbians and gay men have been executed since the Ayatollahs seized power in 1979. Last August, a 16-year-old girl was hanged for ‘acts incompatible with chastity.’”
According to Outrage:
They admitted to having gay sex (probably under torture) but claimed in their defence that most young boys had sex with each other and that they were not aware that homosexuality was punishable by death. Prior to their execution, the teenagers were held in prison for 14 months and severely beaten with 228 lashes. Their length of detention suggests that they committed the so-called offences more than a year earlier, when they were possibly around the age of 16.

It's horribly sad but not surprising. Iran is extremely intolerant and many high ranking Iranian officials believe that homosexuality does not even exist in their country.

Statute:
Sharia law
Penalty:
Imprisonment, torture, and death

Report: Iran Gay Teens Executed
by 365Gay.com Newscenter Staff
Posted: July 21, 2005

(London) Two teenagers have been executed after a religious court found them them guilty of homosexuality according to pro-Democracy groups.
The Iranian Students News Agency reports that the executions took place on July 19 in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
One teen, ISNA says was 18, the other was a minor, believed to be 16 or 17. The organization ran a picture of what it said was the execution on its Web site.
The English language Iran In Focus also reported the executions, saying the teens were hanged in public in the city square. It quotes sources as saying the teens were executed for having sex with another minor but this could not be confirmed. The report does not name the victim. Under Sharia law the victim of a sexual assault must also be executed.
Both news services say that prior to their execution, the teenagers were held in prison for 14 months, severely beaten and given the lash 228 times.

Two teenagers, hung for homosexual activity in the city of Mashhad, each lashed 228 times while in custody.
If it is the same story, it occurred more than two years ago.
But maybe Mashhad just ain't a good place to be gay.
Maybe it is the same situation played out twice.

EDIT:
Oops. Well, New End, I guess you solved that one.

Those pictures are disturbing. It's kinda eerie and sad to see them so troubled by what they did, which is not a crime at all. They look very at peace in the first picture...

I hope they are resting peacefully.

The Bible actually states: "Thou shalt not kill." It's one of the 10 Commandments.

You want irony? Guess what awaits Muslim men in heaven?

Per the Prophet Mohamed, as revealed to him by the angel Gabriel:
• Sura 52:24. "And there shall wait on them young boys of their own, as fair as virgin pearls.
• Sura 56:17. "And there shall wait on them immortal youths with bowls and pitchers of water and a cup of purest wine."
• Sura 76:19. "They shall be attended by boys graced with eternal youth, who will seem like scattered pearls to the beholders."
Now in the haddiths it gets strange. Mohamed (or those who claim to know the will of Mohamed state the following:

"Keep not company with the sons of kings, for truly souls desire them in a way they do not desire freed slave-girls."

"If you see two people who act like the people of Lot [the men of Sodom], then kill the active and the passive."

Ibn Abbas and Abu Huraira reported God's messenger as saying, 'Accursed is he who does what Lot's people did.' In a version . . . on the authority of Ibn Abbas it says that Ali [Muhammad's cousin and son—in—law] had two people burned and that Abu Bakr [Muhammad's chief companion] had a wall thrown down on them. (vol. 1, p. 765, Prescribed Punishments; cf. Maududi vol. 2, p. 52, note 68)

And even you're an effeminate heterosexual, you're in trouble:

The Prophet cursed effeminate men and those women who assume the similitude (manners) of men. He also said said: 'Turn them out of your houses.' He turned such and such a person out, and Umar [a principal companion of Muhammad] also turned out such and such person. (Bukhari vol. 8, no. 6834; see vol. 7 nos. 5885 and 5886)

May the world save itself from the religions of the sands. Nothing tempts like what is forbidden.

Oh and yes, Iran's government is shit.

The bible says homosexuality is an abomination, God killed everyone in Sodom and Gemorrhah, for being gay, the bible says that it is a shame for a man to dress like a woman, and for a woman to cut her hair. The Bible and the Koran really are not that different.
