The proliferation of these threads is just going to continue unless there is some mod action taken to nip it in the bud.

I complained about it a couple of months ago but was told that they didn't want to stop "free speech" and that there was no way to know if anyone was really stealing anything. Yeah, right.

The LPSG directly or at least indirectly supports criminal activity, I guess.

If the owners and moderators of the LPSG have no problems with stealing, I think they could at least set up the board so that you're unable to post anything in the adult websites category until you've posted at least 10 comments in other categories, or something like that. Maybe even make the adult websites category accessible only for gold members of the LPSG.

I mean - shit - do I have to come up with all of the ideas around here?

(Just kidding about that last comment, but I'm not kidding about my other comments.)

I wasn't commenting on the 'free speech' or legality aspect of the threads - that is a whole different ball game.

My gripe is that there are people joining for the sole purpose of request something without actually taking the time to look around or contribute to the site.

It is a different situation compared to people finding the site through a search, then joining and making use of the resources already here - be it advice, support, links to other sites or content - as many people have done in the past.

You wouldn't tolerate people joining a local community club just to get their hands on freebies then leaving without ever returning, so why put up with the same outright leeching behaviour here ?

Well, I think both of our gripes could be addressed if they would take my suggestions and put limits on who can post in the Adult Websites category. It wouldn't eliminate the moochers or the illegal nature of the torrent sites, but it would at least reduce the prevalence of those posts.

The vast majority of members who participate here wouldn't be upset if the Adult Websites category had some restrictions placed on it. I'm sure of that.

Another idea for the Adult category:

Links to websites and pictures are fine; requests for passwords and keys are not fine and should be deleted.

Pretty simple. I'd be glad to help moderate the category for this.

I've noticed this a lot lately as well and I agree with Mr. Mark they should be deleted. These people are like that annoying kid in homeroom who always wanted to copy your english homework. :irked:

Yes. You wouldn't ask someone to knock over a convenience store for you, and you shouldn't ask for free access to something you haven't paid for that someone's making a living from.

Thank you, thank you.

What makes it even worse is that those file sharing sites offer faster downloads if you pay them. So if you buy access to faster downloads, you're not only ripping off the creators of the movies you're enjoying, you're giving money to the criminals who enable you to do it.

With all of the free porn clips out there from legitimate sites like XTube, it's pathetic to come here begging for free access to a torrent site.
