Hey straight guys.

I live in a pretty gay friendly city.
I know not to hit on straight guys and respect their boundaries.

However, gay or straight. Do most guys like being appreciated & complimented in a harmless way? - Again, not always trying to 'pick someone up'. Kind of curious if there's a fun greeting to play around and test out.

For straight guys who are comfortable around gay guys, how do you like to be greeted by a gay guy?

Might be stereotyping here, but kind of like when gays greet each other with 'Hey girl!" and straighter guys with "buddy".
Is there something in between in 2025?

I don't know if you feel fraternal love if you say hi you somehow express it.
Mimic the greeting could be a good way.
Being appreciated it's ok but you are complementing I guess you could use the woman rule, compliment a variable he can control and don't overwhelm people with compliments.

I knew a flamboyant gay and it was exhausting always hitting someone like a machine gun even when I wasn't his target.
On the other side of the spectrum I met a 100 percent gay who i wouldn't have ever guessed he was gay untill he shared that info there was no difference comparing any other friend.

Oh yea, would not go overboard and would stop if they are uncomfortable.
I guess my post was also keeping in mind how a lot of men struggle with low confidence, etc., and every single straight male colleagues that are chill talk about how much of a confidence boost it is when they get hit on by dudes.

My intention isn’t to get in anyone’s pants. More of being friendly, but then we can flirt, assuming nothing will happen.

I compare turning a 100% straight guy is like asking me to eat out a woman, or maybe asking a woman to go down on me. That dick is going limp as fuck.

Once went to a gay bar with a gay friend.... I got lots of "want a blow job" instead of the greetings you listed. :joy:
Lol. I mean, you were at a gay bar. Can’t blame them for assuming, i guess?
They gotta shoot their shot and move on. Otherwise time is wasted!

My past self could question if I was sending the wrong signals, confidence comes from inside you can't give it.

From that list, probably the first one and Big Guy might be best, or emulate other guys around you when they are greeting each other. I also find the flamboyant manner quite wearing and unnecessary, and somewhat out of order; it's like watching an effeminate gay trying to walk like a woman, but ends up doing so much hip-swinging, you sort of think he's being electrocuted instead (and the majority of women does not walk that way, unless on Runway). To rhyme with HEY! (which is another greeting you can use without being excessively gay). OK?

I can tell you that my wife's lesbian friends have started referring to me as "Dude"....
I'm curious to know where that might fit in as a greeting or sobriquet?
