I switched from briefs to boxers at age 10-12 and stayed in them till about age 14-16 when i got my first job & from there I went to CK trunks. Around the age of 18-22 I put on some significant weight and switched to boxer-briefs (worn only Mundo Unico Suspensor Boxers) and remained there till I turned 27 when I switched back to briefs.

Ok, I guess I am really bumping this thread, but I thought the title appropriate.

As I have said in other posts, I am mid 30's and a year or so out of a 13 year relationship with a MILF I met in college.
I coach and thus spend a lot of time with the guys on our college team, especially now that I really have nothing to go home to so to speak. A few of them have insisted I "update" my wardrobe, including my underwear style and brands.
I am a briefs guy with some Jockey trunks thrown in and always a jockstrap for workouts and such.

I can pull off a upper 20's look OK and my current regular date it 29.
I have always thought the American Eagle and such were more a high school/college fad even though pthe guys try to get me to try some of the American Eagle trunks and BB's. I have occasionally as a trade off for them trying a jockstrap for practice or workouts, but like I say try to stick with more mature brands like Jockey, UnderArmour, Calvin Klein and such, or whatever I find at TJMaxx.

So I have noticed some of the guys, especially a couple of the new freshmen guys are wearing a brand called "Penguin" to weigh ins or leave them hanging in their locker. Its odd since I have never seen them before this year and now see at least 3 guys have them.
They seem like a more mature guys brand with some fun thrown in?
Anyone know anything about them? comfortable? are they a younger generation brand?

I graduated high school in 2011 and vast majority of guy wore boxer briefs.

The way I saw it was:
Every guy till they were 13 or 14 wore tighty whities
14- graduation boxer briefs or colored briefs, tighty whities

I wore tighty whities all though school and still do. Was no questions asked, that's what my mom bought. I find them comfortable, function, and good looking so I'll never switch out of them. I grew up in farm country Ohio so every guy had tighty whities in their underwear drawer!

For me it's more about comfort than age. I get tons of compliments when I wear boxer briefs but frankly I can't stand the leg seems choking out my thighs and due to the size of the thighs and glutes, the fact that pretty much every brand rides up within minutes of wearing them. I tend to wear briefs as they keep my junk under control and also allow me to move more freely without a wad of material bunching up under fitted slacks etc.

The advent of skinny jeans and skinny pants I think is partly responsible for the resurgence of regular briefs among younger guys. Boxer briefs are probably #1 but regular briefs would be #2. Boxer shorts seem non-existent now.

Love trunks. Super comfy and they support your cock and balls.

My impression is that a guy wears what his mother buys him - usually what she buys for his father - until the guy leaves home or for some other reason starts thinking for himself. Then he swaps to whatever is popular at the time. He sticks with that until he gets married and his wife takes charge of his underpants.
That’s also why you see so many guys wearing underpants that are far too big for them - it’s a woman thing.
Of course gay guys usually follow the latest fashion, which at the moment, in the UK, seems to be hipsters / square cuts.
As someone once said, grown men shouldn’t wear boxers.

I may be an anomaly, but my pattern doesn’t follow the OP’s theory. Rather than be stuck in a time warp, my choice of underwear has evolved with the times. First classic white briefs, then boxers, then boxer briefs and now mostly trunks. Maybe I’m just a sucker for underwear advertising.

Colored briefs are the style I can’t put my finger on. They’ve always been a small part of my collection — for when I’m in a briefs kind of mood — but I can’t think of a period in time when they were strongly en vogue.

Tighty whites through high school, boxers in 20’s, back to classic briefs now late 30’s. I’m older now and need the support. I tried boxer briefs but didn’t like them... not enough support and too much material.
Also... grown men don’t care what other guys think of your underwear choice.

Briefs exclusively from childhood until my 40's.
Mix of briefs, boxers and commando from then until I retired.
Full time commando now.
