the weirdest medical complaint of all time?![]()
I have this condition and there are many forms of it. Sometimes it's great and other times its completely annoying. For the most part I get tastes and sensations from sound. I envy people with milder forms of it but I wouldnt give mine up for anything.
Apparently you're unfamiliar with the effects of lysergic acid diethylamide.
are there patterns to what you taste? i mean can you associate certain sounds with the tastes of certain things, or is it just a weird sensation on your tongue?
it does sound like it would be fun, for a while at least!
is that a medical complaint?!
Here is an article about a condition called 'synaesthesia', which apparently makes your brain confuse words and tastes!

I have it, but my form is mild, sensing notes as pictures, touch as lines, some interest in geometrical forms and movement, smells as coloration.
There was a book written by one R. A. Luria, called MIND OF A MEMNONMIST. (sp?), which detailed the crowded life of a man who recalled just about everything that happened to him as it pertained to his multiple input.
Then I read recently BORN ON A BLUE DAY, by another savant, who explained he was able to multiply two large numbers together and get an answer very quickly by putting the shapes of the numbers together and reading the resulting form.
Having used various psychedelics, I have been able to see about the heightening of synaethesia to interesting extremes. These sessions did not clear up some of my dyslexia. Effort has.
I don't think Bush has this this condition. He has a mind besotted from alcohol and cocaine abuse and the resulting frayed ends of his neurons always speak "bafflegab". He not not like a custy potato chip. Something on my shoe that won't quite wipe off and makes my leg feel green and funny, is George W. Bush.
Every now and then I see interesting things, only because of the way they're arranged, or have geometric arrangements that can be deduced as an equation.
Often the words will alter to shapes, but the pitch must be good for the shape to have interesting form. Tastes don't register as shapes for me.
There are weirder medical "complaints". Check out any given book by Oliver Sacks, and read on.
Omg, I know someone with lexical-gustatory synaethesia too
He tastes salt and vinegar walkers crisps when he hears someone say 'love' :biggrin1:
Have you used any other types of drug to alter the effects of it?
I know someone who uses weed to dull the effects of it ocasionaly.
I have heard of this condition before and find it quite interesting. I'm glad you have learned to embrace or at least live with it.I have this condition and there are many forms of it. I get the same tastes from the same things rarely do I get them from names but I get sweet\sour tastes from a lot of words. Some times its like actually tasting and sometimes it's an after taste sort of thing. Mix that with grapheme and its trouble. If I'm tired it takes forever to read or write things because of the confusion.
