Quick question here that’s probably been asked a million times. So I’m trying to take my health a lot more seriously lately. I’m starting to work out, have a cleaner diet. I’m not too out of shape, but I do have some fat in my midsection. It’s not really a belly, but more just a little fat completely around the area.

So I was wondering what exercises can help burn that off. What food should I be eating to help get rid of this unwanted fat?

Any help is extremely appreciated since I know basically nothing about this kind of stuff.

Thank you!

These strategies have helped me...

A) Running a mile or two at least once a week.

B) Counting Calories (monitoring this daily to keep in the 2000 range).

C) Actively avoiding certain foods (anything with "added sugar" especially; let the natural amount be enough).

Foods I Avoid Generally and the Reason Why...

1) MOST CEREALS, SODA, SOFT DRINKS, FAST FOOD & CANDY (way too much sugar).

Plain Oatmeal, Oat Bran, or Raisin Bran is good for me; mainly because, I need the fiber. Even still, Raisin Bran is really pushing the limit on sugar consumption.

Also, I love chocolate, but I have to limit it to 2-3 chocolate chip cookies per day. Again, it's really the sugar that's the problem.

And side note: artificial sweetners are not a solution; they are their own form of punishment.

2) DELI MEATS (hard for me to digest).

3) CANNED FOOD (high in sodium)

I admit to liking soup. However, I do try to opt for low sodium varieties. Otherwise, it screws up my system.

FOOD I Tend to Eat: High Protein, High Fiber. To compensate for minerals and vitamins: fruit and raw vegetables.

I keep a 1/2 gallon jug in my car while I'm working. I slice up a lemon and fill it with ice and filtered water. Sugar free alternative to soda.

Also, I switched my cooking to as low salt as possible. I make extra when cooking dinner and take leftovers with me to work for lunch so I avoid fast food. The plastic take out containers are pretty cheap on amazon, and if I don't feel like washing them I just toss them.

If I do order fast food I always ask for my food to be prepared without salt. Burgers are usually salted when cooking in a restaurant, and of course they're salting the fries.

When I simply cut the salt, I dropped 10 pounds over the following 2 weeks.
