I think it's a lot rarer than that in most reputable surveys (lifestyles and so on) even bone-pressed. Kinsey has the figures you quote, but his statistics are dubious as his subjects self-measured. Measurements taken in this way have turned out to give consistently inflated results compared with 3rd-party measurements - Kinsey's figures for average length are one the largest I think I've seen, if not THE largest. Unfortunately he's probably the most famous researcher in his field, which is probably where a lot of the myths about average size come from (6" non-bone pressed being "average", for example).
At the risk of getting flamed, I don't believe Lex is 9" long - at least not non-bone-pressed while standing up.
