Stage coach days are over. Evening news and newspapers are about to go by the wayside. This generation is web based, and I for one could give a shit about Iowans. Iowans still think,"As Iowa goes,so goe's the nation."
What bullshit, people today are to smart to let midwesterner's make decisions for them. Before TRUE mass communication people used to rely on the opinion of others now this election will be decided right up to the end.We don't do business today the same way our fathers or grandfathers did it. States that are fighting over early primarys better get over themselves. FloriDUH still thinks its super important because of the bullshit it's pulled over the last few years.
Politicians should realize where most of us get info today!

Contemporary politics are about branding, about mob mentality, and about hype. Whoever wins the first few primaries gets more hype. They're definitely important.

As far as whether the states they are held in are important or not... that's a whole different story. but I guess there might be a fruit roll-up price increase if we suddenly lost 300 square miles of corn. That'd be a pity.

Yes but, todays hype is fifteen nanoseconds of fame not yesterdays fifteen minutes! Real time primarys will happen eveyday!

Nah, they can migrate to Kansas. It's Iowa that gives a shit about the cows, because it's all they have.

Iowa has corn as well. And soybeans.

The locale really matters not, but the interaction necessary to seduce, for lack of a better word, caucus goers does matter.

In any other format, the determining factor would be the slickness of the advertising campaign, and not the pressing of flesh and personal interaction.

And I'd sooner rather move to New Jersey than return to Kansas. Lawrence was a bit of an oasis from the odd mix of southerners, midwesterners, and cowboys, but even still, I could hear the banjos playing in the distance and I must say "Paddle faster!"

If it were another state going first, you'd be bitching about that one instead.

LOL! The cows shit ON Iowa.

I've been following the campaign on CNN International. With all the hype on the airwaves you'd think that this was the general election. Whoever wins the caucuses will be the next President! It seems that either the cowpokes in Iowa, or Oprah will be choosing who is the next great leader.
