Not holding President Trump accountable sets a precedent. Leaving office after committing impeachable high crimes and misdemeanors while pardoning himself on the way out the door sets the precedent that any future president may commit crimes of any nature and simply pardon himself.

Is this the kind of America that anyone wants to live in? One where there is no balance of power? One where the office of the president is never held accountable? Actions have consequences and the man currently holding the office of the presidency is a common thug and a criminal with very dangerous authoritarian and fascist tendencies. Trump needs to be impeached regardless of whether or not the Senate convicts. It must go on record.

Not holding traitors who tried to overthrow America accountable is exactly why those racist trash at the Capitol felt emboldened to wave the Confederate flag. We can't make that mistake again.

There can be no "unity" and no "healing" until both those that committed the insurrection and those that encouraged them to it are held accountable and one of those ways is another impeachment.

Even if it's only symbolic (which it probably will be) it still will send a message that "law and order" actually means something beyond a hollow Republican talking point.
