You can bet that the Tri-Lateral Commission figures prominently in there along with Freemasonry and maybe, just maybe, a connection with Roswell, NM too

Correct...it all stems from the aliens

Oooh, yes...let's get 99% of the egghead scientific community to agree to manufacture evidence and participate in a global conspiracy to milk the American public for mere millions of dollars in small, incremental pollution taxes! That's a MUCH better plan than getting four or five assholes in the White House to foment international warfare based on a lie, and let us bilk the public for trillions of dollars in military supply and no-bid civil reconstruction contracts!

that's the big fallacy that the "scientific community" is unanimous in this. the biggest shame was the names they attached to the IPCC... scientists who never endorsed the final summary, much less disagreed with many/much of the premises laid in that report... yet because they were consulted... they went on the "count" for scientists "contributing" to the IPCC report...and thusly libtards citing them as the numerous near-unanimous endorsement of the findings.

follow the fucking grant money ...dumb fucks.

there's global warming... ok. and there's man-made global warming. volcanoes and sun spots have far far far more of an impact on the earth's temperature and atmosphere than humankind. the rheotric around recent flattening of the planet's temperature has gone silent... coincidentally, the sun spot activity is at an absence not seen as low for almost a 100 years.

duh... it's the sun that heats the planet stupid.

isn't funny that the hallmark treaty on "global warming" is the Kyoto Protocol... if you've ever been to Kyoto it's like Pittsburgh-meets-Shanghai.

Yes HG. The woo is strong here.

Me believing in conspiracies is like you believing in this so called 'scientific evidence'. read the article above. I can back up what im saying through the work of my friend and he knows what he's talking about.

As a matter of fact, it is the diabolical conspiracy of a famously Windy City, intent on coaxing hapless investors into propping the value of its real estate on a bet that that rising ocean levels will make it the next New York City.

Aha, so that explains why the biggest climate science denial lobbying group is in the Windy City. Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?

Here's an artical about global warming being a hoax and this is one of my friends! it just shows the extent he has gone to for sticking up for his beliefs and the action he's taking towards it.

Man who claims climate change is a hoax says he'll go to jail before paying 'carbon tax' - Mid Cheshire Chronicle

Well, that proves it then. Someone not wanting to pay taxes, I mean. How likely is that?

When they finally incarcerate him, they should consider putting him in a cell with this guy. They should have a lot in common.

good for them... and please... link to a credible source.... for once.

Here's a link to PP&G's blog outlining their position in why they broke with the US Chamber of Commerce. You're right: I should have followed the links and reported it directly from the horse's mouth. It would have spared you the agony of having to endure Think Progress' comments section.

We find it dismaying that the Chamber neglects the indisputable fact that a decisive majority of experts have said the data on global warming are compelling and point to a threat that cannot be ignored. In our opinion, an intellectually honest argument over the best policy response to the challenges of climate change is one thing; disingenuous attempts to diminish or distort the reality of these challenges are quite another.

My bad, though the story's identical. So it's a small bad.

You cannot be serious, or you simply don't know better... Kyoto is the former capital of Japan, and has more parks and gardens than you had obvious visited... go to Hamamatsu, and Yokohama if you want to make relative valuations about clean industry and ports.

Hilarious that you cite PG&E as being an incredible source, but they are credible enough to bring you gas and light every day...

Could it be that recently low sun spot activity has actually caused the globe to cool down?
http://www.climate4you.com/images/SunspotsMonthlyNOAA%20and%20HadCRUT3%20GlobalMonthlyTempSince1960.gif
The sun goes through a solar cycle of activity over approximately 9-10 years. We are in the minimum now. This means the solar magnetic field is 'calmer' and less twisted and knotted than it was since c.2000. This is what leads to sunspots, the solar plasma in the photosphere being affected by this twisting and sunspots forming where the magnetic field lines pass through the solar surface. Sunspots are darker because they are cooler areas on the surface of the sun.

So pray tell, how does a lack of sunspots cool the Earth down?

The rotation does change a bit due to displacement. The effect is slight but measurable.
As is the effect of wind over the Earth's surface: Global mass balance and the length-of-day variation
On the order of 10^-3 seconds per day I believe.

The effect of changing the atmospheric composition on global temperatures is blatantly more obvious and well documented. It's just not politically convenient I suppose. Fuck people and their short-sighted selfishness.

Bravo.

I mentioned the effect because, decades ago, I recalled reading that the rate of the earth's rotation had been slightly affected by the introduction tidal driven power generation turbines in Denmark or Sweden.

The effect of changing the atmospheric composition on global temperatures is blatantly more obvious and well documented. It's just not politically convenient I suppose. Fuck people and their short-sighted selfishness.

Here's another noticeable change: The tone of climate change deniers is becoming increasingly shrill and hysterical.

directly above the center of the earth
My source is myself, for I am a veritable font of brilliance. Duh. :biggrin1:

Seriously, though, just look at the orders of magnitude. Mountains and volcanoes are measured in hundreds or a few thousands of feet...roughly the same scale as single miles. The surface of the earth is scaled in tens of millions of square miles...a difference of seven orders of magnitude. Depending on your chosen timescale, there are close to 500 technically active volcanoes on the planet, bringing the differential down two orders to five.

Five orders means a factor of hundreds of thousands. Like I said...a rounding error. And I'm only looking at it in two dimensions. When you factor in how volcanoes are single miles tall and the earth is a couple thousand miles deep, that's three more orders of magnitude...making it a difference scaled in factors of hundreds of millions.

Uhmp. When Mount St Helens blew, the following winter was exceptionally cold all over. Especially where I was a lot: NYC.

It's doesn't matter about number, but volume. I was googling several areas, and the activity was on several points accross th world: Alaska, Philipine, Hawaii, South America.....

...It's climate change that will kill us all.

Has anyone else noticed that recently politicians and news readers no longer use the term "global warming"?
Climate change now seems to be the official term used to frighten us all into paying more taxes.

Could it be that recently low sun spot activity has actually caused the globe to cool down?

We shouldn't be surprised if "climate change" eventually becomes "impending ice age" within a few decades.

Don't think that I am complaining about the positive effects of such scare tactics, it's just that alternatives to oil and nuclear energy have been around for decades. Powerful oil lobbies have managed to slow down the transition from dirty polluting hydrocarbon based fuels to the unlimited clean free energy promised by inventors like Nikola Tesla over a century ago.
If the government really wanted to reduce the negative effects of pollution on our planet, the technology exists, it just needs investment.

1) you're right, global warming is bogus.

2) Your're wrong, the great 'we have the technology' claim is a farce. If it were true we'd see cars coming out of places like Thialand that get 150mpg. You have to register, for public viewing, all patents. People would pick them up and copy them. Further, there is no incentive on oil companies to stop better gas mileage; in the odd world of oil less demand = higher prices.
