Solar jobs tumble under Trump
The number of U.S. solar jobs dropped in 2017 for the first time this decade, falling 3.8 percent after a record jump in 2016, the Solar Foundation reports.
The most mature markets — California and Massachusetts — saw the biggest pullback following a year of strong growth. The threat of
solar tariffs also sent a wave of uncertainty through the industry: 86 percent of solar companies indicated that trade restrictions would hurt their business, and nearly three-quarters said they saw negative effects from the trade case even before President Trump announced his decision.
