rates eighth in the world on the favorability scale, with 45% favorable and 34% unfavorable in terms of what the US does for the world. Germany was rated first, with 59%, followed by Japan, France, the EU, Canada and Brazil and two other nations. Britain was rated ninth.
what does this tell us? first, the US is not first on everyone's love list, but we are far from the bottom , which include Iran, Pakistan and North Korea.
more people from more nations love the US rather than hate it.
some of the credit and or blame has to go to Obama. and some more to Hillary Clinton. and some of the blame or credit needs to go to John Boehner and Mitt Romney.
nonetheless, the next time you hear someone talk about the US being the most hated nation in the world, tell them about this survey, conducted in more than one hurndred nations among thousands of people from January -march of 2013.
this is just one more good argument for immigration reform and an end to the continual war on terror which president Obama called for today.

With 7 billion people in the world, it is impractical to interview them all, but proper sampling techniques can minimize the error.

I would love to see their protocols.

Yeah that is what I meant. I really wasn't suggesting that EVERYONE should be interviewed.

I have the same beef with every survey ever made. I could make a survey like this and find America at the bottom of list depending on who I interview. Most surveys aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Hehe.......you're arse must have been itching to make you pull this one out of it. I'd be willing to bet over half the people that answered the poll you site don't have a clue as to who Boehner or Romney is.

this is just one more good argument for immigration reform and an end to the continual war on terror which president Obama called for today.
This sounds great, but how do you stop the war on terror when the terrorists continue to attack? Does this mean Obama won't be using drones anymore? BTW, I support his use of drones vs sending in troops on foreign soil.

Dakota kid, i guess there arent too many immigrants where you live, but in much of the US, there are. the vast majority have no intention of hurting ANYONE or bombing Anything, except for mosquitoes in their immediate vicinity. YOUR fear of immigrants is both sad and indicative of a paranoid attitude toward anyone YOU consider foreign born.
fortunately for us, you are NOT in charge of immigration reform. As a third generation US born Latino, i am quite happy for that.
clearly, you know little about how immigrants built this nation. GO READ SOME BOOKS !!!!

Cruz, you're trolling us right? You can't possibly be this dull! How do you equate "how do you stop the war on terror when the terrorists continue to attack?" with being anti-immigrant?

Your assessment of immigrants is spot on, but nothing DK said conflicted with that belief.

It sounds less like DK is scared/paranoid of immigrants than he is cognizant of the threat that terrorism plays in the world...

please explain your interpretation of DK's post. I can't comprehend how you reached your conclusion.

Survey: Australia the 'lucky country' for a better life - CNN.com

Australia has been named the world's happiest industrialized nation for the third year running, based on criteria including satisfaction, work-life balance, income and housing, a survey released Tuesday has found.

The so-called "lucky country" beat Sweden and Canada to take the top spot in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) Better Life Index.

Australia has remained largely immune from the global financial crisis, with its economy growing on average 3.5% over the last 20 years to 2012, according to the CIA Factbook.

[ . . . ]

Australia's employment levels, at 73% of those aged 15 to 64, are above the OECD average of 66%. Average household disposable income sits at $28,884, more than the OECD average of $23,047 and despite Australians working an average 83 hours less a year.

Life expectancy, at 82 years, is two years higher than the OECD average of 80 years and satisfaction, at 84%, is higher than the 80% global average.
And, on that note, maybe the differences are what makes them so awesome:

Differences Between Australians, Americans, Brits and Canadians:

Aussies: Believe you should look out for your mates.
Brits: Believe that you should look out for those people who belong to your club.
Americans: Believe that people should look out for and take care of themselves.
Canadians: Believe that that is the government's job.

Aussies: Dislike being mistaken for Pommies (Brits) when abroad.
Canadians: Are rather indignant when mistaken for Americans when abroad.
Americans: Encourage being mistaken for Canadians when abroad.
Brits: Can't possibly be mistaken for anyone else when abroad.

Canadians: Endure bitterly cold winters and are proud of it.
Brits: Endure oppressively wet and dreary winters and are proud of it.
Americans: Don't have to do either, and couldn't care less.
Aussies: Don't understand what inclement weather means.

Americans: Drink weak, pissy-tasting beer.
Canadians: Drink strong, pissy-tasting beer.
Brits: Drink warm, beery-tasting piss.
Aussies: Drink anything with alcohol in it.

Americans: Seem to think that poverty and failure are morally suspect.
Canadians: Seem to believe that wealth and success are morally suspect.
Brits: Seem to believe that wealth, poverty, success, and failure are inherited.
Aussies: Seem to think that none of this matters after several beers.
