Agreed, everyone has the right to hold their beliefs, no matter how baseless or repugnant. What they do NOT have the right to do is enforce those beliefs upon others, or to actualize physical violence against another person based on those beliefs. Example: It's a person's right to believe "I hate homosexuals, I think they should all be dead." It is NOT a person's right to go out and kill someone because of the aforementioned belief... Example: It's a person's right to believe "Same-gender marriage is wrong, so I will not marry another person of my own gender." It is not a person's right to attempt to prevent me from marrying the person of my choice.Dorset said:With regards to sticking your head in the sand, I kind of agree with you but they do have every right to hold their beliefs, they may well sound stupid to you or me but we can't tell people what to think
For what it is worth, many religious denominations do tell people what to think... not all, but many.
Yes, I'm from the US... and from my point of view, the only ones who should be locked up outside the US border without access to a phone or legal support are the US officials who have sanctioned this sort of behavior... starting with the current "commander in chief".Dorset said:Oh yeah, you're from the US, maybe you should lock them up just outside the US border and hold them there without access to a phone or legal support
