Yes the taxpayers will foot the bill. Thank you for pointing out the bloody obvious genius. Your point is??
Ummmm, there are some who don't realize what we spend each year on foreign aid. I'm curious how much money people would be giving directly out of their own pockets if they realized how much thay are already paying. FYI, most people have busy lives and don't keep a precise tally of where their taxpayer money is going. Have a nice day.

You also don't realize that many Americans are giving money on their own as well. Cell phone companies, thanks to donations received by regular people via text messages in only 3 days, collected over $11 Million dollars alone. And I'm sure most people know tax dollars are going to causes like this and many others they may or may not agree with. We appreciate your PSA, but it was certainly not needed.

For once, keep your petty grievances about the government out of this. Your life must be very unfulfilling if you need to score political points using this tragedy as a catalyst.

who are you to tell anyone whats needed to be said? you sure as hell aren't speaking or me. You're the last one that should be popping off but of course you are true to form. there's nothing politcal about his statement. it's true billions have been squandered over the years. not the peoples fault but their government. it's important toknow exactly where and how much of your donation is going to.

the first thing they need to learn is not to mix cement with salt water. that played a big role in the devistation.

I will say that it is almostIMPOSSIBLE for anybody in to have more "spending spree" than what Bush did. Specially when half his presidency he spent in vacacion while thousands were being killed. Are you aware that the debt that we got under Bush is greater than the summatory of the debt of ALL the presidents in the history of the united States of America? How can you equate that to what you are calling "spending spree" Just because is not being done by Bush? One more time, don;t blind yourself because of a political party. Can you see Reps and Libs are just two parties made to play us all?? If Obama screw us up, I will be one of the first speak up against it. I am for our country, not for a political party!

It hurts to see Bush "joining" the efforts to help Haiti, when New Orlands, Biloxy, and many other towns are still living in tents. Why would believe he can do anything? As for me, he is trying to erase the image he left. But it is too late! Yes, he did some good things, but they are so few compared with the awful things he did. You cannot be so blind to not see that! He is not even your dad or brother, he is just a man who ruined this economy! Lets call sin by its name!

I never implored anyone to forget, just move on. Nearly every post by the OP in this forum refers to "zippy" a.k.a. Bush. As for a nation drowning in debt (I believe that's what you meant to say), are you oblivious to the post-Bush spending spree?

I believe the OP is implying that God is somehow doing an injustice to the Haitians by way of Bush being involved in the relief efforts. As if those who are clinging to life really care who is willing to help them. Bush actually did a lot to combat AIDS in Haiti (PEPFAR), not that the OP would likely give him any credit for those efforts.

Tents?? [looking around] No. Don't see any fuckin' tents.

But amazing the rationalization (read here above) about "tax dollars", faulty construction, dredged up divisive politics, and other arguments all designed to absolve one's own mind of the simple fact that there are men women and children in dire need of humanitarian aid.

Amazing, how fucking petty one can get.

Then you might get out of your "fuckin" town and see beyond your ghetto! Remember, it is not just about you! YES THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE not living in the right conditions after Katrina.

Oh please.

Don't forget who is really paying for the aid Obama promises. The American citizen taxpayer is the real hero here, not some poser sitting in the White House who gives good speeches.
Tell me what is not political about that statement.

The discourse in this forum continues to hit new lows. People trying to play off a tragedy of this magnitude, bashing Bush or Obama, or Arabs, making jokes, whinging about taxes. It's sick. I have news for you.. Obama and Bush and Clinton and millions of people around the world are playing on the same team on this one. I donated 150 dollars to the Red Cross. What have you done? (Besides pay your tax?)

I think it's impressive the way the US has reacted to this disaster - much like with the tsunami.

America gets a lot of criticism in the media, so it would be helpful sometimes to remind people just how much they do to help other nations - individually and as a nation. :)

www.clintonbushhaitifund.org ...............Just say no thanks, look what Zippy W. did for New Orleans. I wonder if he knows where Haiti is?

All things with a physical nature change. The Earth is continuously undergoing physical change to adjust to stresses caused by its own rotation and the gravitational pull which is exerted by the Moon, to name a few causes. The catastrophe in Haiti is the result of unimaginable poverty combined with poor management of the natural surroundings and substandard building codes. People cannot afford to build homes which will withstand a major quake and the result is a city in ruins and upwards of 2 million poor souls in need of food, water, and shelter.

I lived through Hurricanes Cindy, Katrina, and Rita during 2005. The misery which all of us experineced was manmade, and not made by just one man.

Gee, I dunno... someone with a fuckin' conscious?
Anyhow, we can all share our opinions on this board and I'm not the only one who even stepped up to suggest that people put aside partisan political grievances in this case either. Funny how you're just calling me out for this? You should know by now that I will gladly strike back with equal if not double the wrath you try to unveil at me.

you sure as hell aren't speaking or me.

I have no desire to lower my scribe to a pre-preschool level to essentially "talk for you". Sorry

You're the last one that should be popping off but of course you are true to form.

And what form is that by tell? Honest?

there's nothing politcal about his statement.

Gee, talking about a "poser" in the White House is not trying to be political? Please, STFU... you're embarrassing yourself.

it's true billions have been squandered over the years. not the peoples fault but their government. it's important toknow exactly where and how much of your donation is going to.

the first thing they need to learn is not to mix cement with salt water. that played a big role in the devistation.

The other thing they need to learn is not to listen to blowhards like you who rabidly don't trust government to do anything right, but still rely on them to protect your sorry ass from pending panty bomber terrorist attacks. How conveniently hypocritical of you. So adamantly dishonest of you to preach this bullshit about tax dollars when in reality, it's about you, your own greed and your wishes to not pay your share. Of course, even with your big muscular frame you'd never have the balls to admit it... and you're just mad that the "dirty lib" can see right through you. But I digress, of course...

Can we make this thread about Haiti now?

Dude, you make an awful lot of contradictory statements to be preaching about blinding one's self. I hope you've got a glass belt buckle for better visibility! :biggrin1:

There is an humanitarian disaster on our hands in Haiti and some of you insist of making this political. You must have to be a real low-life to use this ecological disaster to point fingers at a politically opposing view.

Haiti's such a potentially beautiful place. I wonder what it would take to completely turn it around?

I know this disaster is awful - but in refuting ppl's ideas that God caused it, it made me realise that it is actually a chance (but not one you'd choose) to make some changes.

Aid and relief. A new, un-corrupt Government subscribing to international standards of law and order. Lots of investment, and multinational corps paying fair not sweatshop wages, etc. Maybe it's not possible, but I wonder if it was placed under the protection of the international community something positive could be done to make a lasting change?

declared about what? Do you get sidetracked in the middle of a sentence and just post the incomplete fragment anyway? Thinking the rest of us can read your mind or research the interview?

I this case I agree with Starinvestor. (you can save this one SI).

Bush was asked, "In some circles President Obama has been criticized for politicizing this disaster, do you think that's fair?"

Bush replied, "I, I don't know what they're talking about, I, I've been briefed by the President about the response and as I said in my opening comment, I appreciate the President's quick response to this disaster."

This is a slap at Limbaugh who a few days ago said that Obama would use this politically blah blah blah, puke.

Bush was a failure as a President, but using this human tragedy as a vehicle to attack him, especially when he is actually doing a good thing, is not any different than the tactics of Limbaugh.

Think about it.

The question and answer are at 7.30...
