I can understand why in ancient times homosexuality was looked on as a sin, people needed kids to support them in their old age, to bear the burden of a family yada yada yada, I have no understanding of how someone can view someone who wants to have sex with their own sex as evil, it's only sex, it's not dirty, it's not wrong, what is wrong is judging the whole of someone by a part of them when that part isn't hurting anyone else. Basically they're just nosey buggers.

Ugh, I wish this guy would just stop this crap. He uses people's personal tragedy to further his own warped religious agenda. I'm from Minneapolis, I've driven across that damn bridge thousands of times. I've SEEN the wreckage of it, going by on University. It was chilling, a empty freeway with a handful of barriers in front of it, dropping off to nowhere.

Why can't he use this for something constructive and inspirational. Maybe instead of his scheme to hate people, he could use this idea to pray for and support those who lost friends and family in the tragedy.

Or maybe he could just leave it the hell alone. Most people I know don't want it turned into a memorial. We want to move on and accept it as a tragedy, not have it re-hashed over and over in the news.

Sorry about that little rant, this discussion just hit a little close to home.

The answer to that question is super-easy - he's not really a christian, and being constructive and inspirational is not in his character.

In any religion or philosophy, it's impossible to examine the positive without also examining the negative. The real crux, though, is where the focus is. Contrary to what his professed religion demands, he focuses almost exclusively on the negative. He knows that it's wrong, but he also knows that it's how he can titillate and entice the most dollar-donating sheeple.

Jesus had something to say about people like Pat Robertson:

"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness." - MT 23:27

Ya gotta love that kind of talk.

I agree. But, loving compassion always prevails in those who truly love God. In what way is Pat Robertson helping humanity, or showing that he is truly enlightened?

A life devoted to the poor and dying is something that one can only do in union with the higher being.

One can think things are morally wrong without being judgmental. Mother Theresa never forced conversion on anyone. If she helped a hindu die a peaceful death, a hindu funeral he had.

It's probably inappropriate for me to discuss her on a site like this:eek:, but I would kneel at her feet if she were alive today. I would have done the same if she would have been a hindu or a buddhist.

After I meditate, I always feel more loving compassion for others. But, Bigbull29 is anything but a saint.
It often takes a Buddhist to understand Grace.

Ol Pat is a perv. He gets off on violence. I think of what he said about 911. He is the worst kind of terroist. Soon he will be dead and forced to eat Satans ass each hour...and those loads will not smell good.

Thank goodness only 1-45 comes through Houston, not I-35. Guess we're safe here. What a relief.

Thanks, guy. We are used to it. We hear it various guizes multiple times every day. A student of mine recently quoted research that asserted that gay youth encounter homphobic comments, on the average, thirty-eight times a day.

I'm not a christian but i respect Mother Teresa. She lived a legit or authentic Christianity. Persons that give their entire lives in service of the poor must be highly respected.

I guess it's a bit ironic... I'm not christian, but I fit the ideal of christian living much more closely than most of the mega-church guys and the televangelists. I'm very "golden-rule" in my philosophy, and of a very giving nature. I usually try to see the best in people, and as long as they harm no others, I don't care what they do.

Many nonchristian people are more christian than all the fake believers put together. The fake believers give legit christians a bad name. That is sad.

As a Republican and a Christian, I must say that Pat Robertson's affiliation with both the Republican party and Christianity, is an embarrassment to me and I am appalled by the man.
