I totally agree with Pym Singapore is an immaculate place, the people cannot do enough for you. Yes the penalties are harsh, but if that what it is what it takes to have city with virtually no crime, without Graffiti everyywhere, then so be it.
You go on a train again spotlessly clean any seat occupied by a teenager or young adult, is automatically vacated, without prompt or hesitation for any adult older than them. You see lots of very polite, well mannered teenages who will engage in conversation with you, unlike a high proportion the UK. You hear no swearing or verbal abuse, no rowdiness.
Of all the cities I have been to I have never felt as welcome, respected and safe walking alone late at night.
I also agree death is a very harsh penalty, but at the end of the day you know the rules, the choice is in your hands. The court system is far better in this country and is presented before three Judges, who decide whether the person is guilty or not. Not in this country (uk) Your fate is in the hands of the jury, in legal circles is referred to any twelve people stood at a bus stop. Even though they are instructed to leave al predudices behind, we all know that does not happen.
If I have offended anyone by my remarks, opinions and comments I sincerely apologise now
